Edwyn Collins - "A Girl Like You"

This is the one that has been rattling around in my head for the last few days. As far as I know, I haven't heard it in years.

Omg, I didn't know that Iggy Pop and the Stooges covered this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7I53o0OWpZ8 It sounds almost the same as Edwyn Collins.

That was fabulous! What a voice. I have not heard of him before. Kind of reminds me of Bowie or Byrne.

I may have heard the Iggy Pop version. They do sound similar, but the Collins version has a bit more edge and cleanness to it.

Geez, I didn't even read the description on YouTube:

"'A Girl Like You' is a 1994 single by Scottish singer-songwriter Edwyn Collins from his album Gorgeous George. The song is an Iggy Pop tribute[1] chronicling a tale of the singer's experiences of meeting an extraordinary girl."

So Iggy did it first and Collins sounds like him. However, I agree with you, kk, and prefer Collins' version. And I'm an Iggy Pop fan.

Also, I didn't notice the Bowie similarity until you mentioned it. And I'm a big Bowie fan.
