go and beat the desert
all life still

I remember in the early 70's a friend telling me about this new poet out of New York. He thought she was important and gave me a copy of her book, Seventh Heaven. The next time I heard of her, she and her band were on the radio.

One of my favorite Patti Smith songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahZNam2uT40

U2 also does a very good version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSSAmMwYK4s

Gotta say this about that picture: Kinda looks like Billy the Kid in a middle of a sex change operation.

Beautiful tunes Orbs! The only album I have from Patti Smith is Horses. Guess I'm gonna have to get my hands on her other material as well. Where do you recommend I start?

Oh yeah, U2's version of it is on my The Best of 1980-1990/The B-Sides CD.

Radio Ethiopia and Easter. Those two and Horses were her biggest commercial hits.

I find all of her work haunting. It sends chills up my spine and gives me goosebumps. She was with Allen Ginsberg when he died. She is a true artist.
