Four for Fridays

Happy New Years folks! Welcome to the the first Four for Fridays of the year! It's been a long and exhausting week so far. Just hope the the rest of the year isn't this way... Here are some random questions for you.

1) So, how was your new year celebration?

2) If there is one city you would like to visit, what city would that be?

3) What was the last major project that has been done to your residence?

4) What is your main focus on a song that you are listening to? The lyrics or the instrumentation?

Enjoy your weekend!

You can never say "Happy New Year" enough, Right? Anyway.
1. Boring, ran out of 5ths
2. Nairobi, Kenya
3. I changed the float thingy in the toilet bowl, and threw in one of those blue deodorant disks, so I'm good for another year or so.
4. Wow, very deep within Drew, I'll need to get back to you on this one.

Thanks for the questions Drew.

1. Curled up on the couch sick with a cold.

2. Richmond, Virginia.

3. Paid to have the electric upgraded to 100 Amp service. Then my brother helped me rewire most of the house. (Racine's electrical inspector is an arrogant jack wagon)

4. I focus on both. Neither isn't any good with out the other. Lyrics without music is just a poem. Music without words is a ride in an elevator.

1. Roast beef sandwiches as it was too windy to grill steaks. But it was nice.
2. Paris
3. I just took all the decorations down. That was a big project.
4. Has to be the music and then the lyrics.

Jed - you always crack me up.

1. went to bed at 9, couldn't stay awake any longer
2. Paris - hey Mary, we should go together (only need to save up how many years for that? :) )
3. ridding the house of most of the carpet and putting in bamboo floors thru the livingroom, hallway and our room, along with redoing the walls in the same
4. the words/message, I find music very therapeutic, and seem to have a song for every mood

1) I watched Marx Bros movies. Just before midnight, I turned on the police scanner. At midnight I heard numerous gunshots outside, far and near. Then a dispatcher on the scanner said, "Welcome to 2012. Report of shots fired." He gave an address a block away from me.

2) I don't know. Maybe New York.

3) Define 'major.' I cleaned the toilet yesterday.

4) The music is always the hook for me, then I catch the lyrics. Sometimes I can't even make them out.

Yes I am late in answering mine!

1) It was great just Drew and I. I couldn't ask for anything better.

2) There are two places first is Mansfield Mo and second is De Smet S.D.. This is two museum's of Laura Ingalls Wilder.

3) Going through everything in the closet and moving everything around to make more room. Another words for me renovating the place. It is taking us all week to do this and it had to be done tonight my daughter is coming home tomorrow.

4) I listen to both of them all the time.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!♥

1. Didn't do anything.

2. Thisted, Denmark

3. Siding repairs

4. Most often the instrumentation, sometimes lyrics, but not too often anymore. Pretty difficult to get too much out of todays music, either way.

Orb's, Your correct when you say the words are difficult to understand. People don't open their mouth anymore when they speak. It's getting worse.

1. It was nice.. calm with a few friends.. The girls made it all the way to midnight and we enjoyed the numerous fireworks that were let off by all the neighbors around us..

2. I would love to get to Rome one day..

3. Hmm.. well we rent so we cant do much of anything ourselves.. but the las major thing was the big cleaning I did right before we left for the States this last spring.. that took a couple of weeks to get through every nook, cranny and cupboard..

4. Of course you have to get interested in a song by the initial music, but it's the lyrics that really get me.. Thats what makes a song great..

LM - Just for the heck of it I looked at air fares. This is leaving out of Chicago and I have to tell you that the first trip is to London and then Paris. 7 day trips start at $1,210.00. It's cheaper to go in January. If we go that far we might as well go to Rome.
So, I'm thinking maybe 2016 we should aim for??? :}

1. Extremely quiet and normal
2. I left my heart... in San Francisco. I love the smell and the scenery.
3. I just bought new living room furniture. If that doesn't count, I guess the sidewalk assessment or the new outdoor gas meter?
4. Kind of both. I think the melody and vocals get me first, then on to the lyrics.

Mary, is that Paris AND Rome both?
if January is the month to go, we may as well plan big and go for
Jan 20, 2020 :)
I have to save up for new countertops 1st and I want the good stuff, that'll take me a bit, so I need a little more time, but it sure sounds good to me :)
does 2020 work for you? :)

LM - I'm with you. I realized 2014 is too close and I can't possibly save that much money by then.
Right now we are saving for a Safe Room in the house. This lying down in the bathtub during tornadoes is just bs.
2020 sounds good. Any irregulars interested in going with us?

1) It was nice staying home with my lady.

2) Been to LA already. I'd like to visit the Haight/Ashbury of the hippie counter culture of San Fransisco. (I'll be sure to wear flowers in my hair).

3) See THB's answer.

4) I love good instrumental pieces. I can totally dig the instrumental albums from Jeff Beck and Joe Satriani. It seems to me that I get a bigger bang out of a perfect guitar solo than I do over a lyric. Then again, Bob Dylan croaks like a frog while his lyrics gives me the goosebumps...
