1. It was always beer, but with whatever Is wrong with me, even one beer gives me a horrible headache? So I guess Now It would be Black Coffee.

2. No plans. May watch the game? May leave home? Never know?

3. I guess I would cheer for the NYG only because I dislike Tom Brady. He should be a Male Model for a fancy store.

4. Like they said on Yahoo yesterday. A coin flip Is just as good, but for oldtimes sake I would choose Punxsutawney Phil.

Mary, I purchased a 12 pack of OLD TIME RETRO Pepsi last week. It Is made with REAL Cane sugar, instead of all of those sweeteners they have come up with over the years. "It's the real thing"

OKIE said...

Toad - I've seen the Mt. Dew like that but not the Pepsi.
How was it?
I just finished reading an article on how Packer fans are being warned not to drink too much and drive during the game. Do they think everyone is going to be crying in their beer?

Toad, I found that Lite,Light beer gave me a splitting headache. I switched from Coors Light to just regular Coors. Much better. Tastes better too.

Fun sugar stuff. 70% of white refined suger is made from sugarcane. 30% is made from sugar beets. Sugar beet juice mixed with calcium chloride melts ice on the roads better that just plain calcium chloride. All the way down to zero degrees. It's not as hard on the road surfaces and not as corrosive to cars.

From the Big Site of Amazing Facts:
Sugar cane and sugar beets produce most of the sugar we use. Even though these plants grow in different climates, sugar cane in the tropics and sugar beets in temperate zones, once their sugar is refined, there is very little difference between the two.
Sugar cane stalks grow from old stalks planted in the ground. When their growing season is over (7 to 22 months) and the stalks are 7 to 15 feet tall, they are cut and taken to a sugar mill.

At the sugar mill, machines wash, cut, and shred the stalks into a pulpy mass. With water continually sprayed on it, this pulpy mass is crushed between rollers to squeeze out the sugary juice, called cane juice.

The liquid, now a dark grayish-green color, is heated to its boiling point, and chemicals are added to remove impurities. Next, the juice is placed in huge tanks to evaporate, leaving a thick syrup. This syrup is heated to remove more and more water until crystals form. These crystals must be separated from the syrup, so they are put into a centrifuge machine which spins it around rapidly.

The sugar which is left inside the machine’s cylinders is called raw sugar. In this form, the sugar has uses to some manufacturers, but to make it suitable for food, it must go to a refinery. There, it is dissolved, treated with chemicals, filtered, crystalized once more, and allowed to solidify, this time into pure white sugar.

Beet sugar is produced much the same way as cane sugar. The beets are sliced and soaked with chemicals to form a sugary syrup. This syrup is also filtered and evaporated until it, too, becomes pure white sugar.

Adding together the table sugar we use with soft drinks, baked goods, candy, canned fruits, jellies, and desserts, an average person in the United States eats 100 pounds of sugar a year!

1. Coffee and water during the day. I'd have to say my home brew concoction at "Miller" time.
2. Is there even a Super Bowl if the Packers aren't playing?
3. See above
4. I will forever remember the hurricane snow of Ground Hog day, 2011. I was awestruck as I was shoveling and snow blowing drifts over my head.

DodgeBoy, I like that. Thanks. It Is really amazing how different the soda tastes with real sugar.

Mary, I didn't know they were warning people any more than usual. Personally, at any given time I would imagine 10% of the people driving In Wisconsin are legally drunk.
