Racine Nonprofits to Pay Property Taxes?

Bunped: the Journal Times finally woke up:  http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/city-seeks-help-letter-asks-tax-exempt-groups-to-help/article_65709488-0c86-11e2-97f8-001a4bcf887a.html

I met a friend earlier today who is active in a local nonprofit organization.  He told me that the organization, and all Racine nonprofits, received a letter from Dickert asking them to pay city property taxes.  He said the letter noted the services that the city provides.

Wow.  We can afford half million dollar bathrooms at City Hall, but Dickert's legal problems must be costing us a mint.  Before he is done, all of Racine will be nonprofitable.

Some leadership huh? Dickert has not produced anything of any value to the community in his time as mayor except lies and more lies and jobs for friends. Yes the 500K marble and granite bathrooms at city hall in this time of fiscal crisis should be enough to oust him....[look who got the granite contract] or how about the over 100k he sued us, the City Of Racine for? How can anyone take this moron serious when he sues the city he represents? Friedel and Dickert's salaries combined are over 250K a year!!! and what have we recieved? How about a job review? This city has been run into the ground by these two and the only ones to benefit are THEIR friends and family!!!! Why does Kenosha not have the same dire problems? Or Oak Creek? Or Green Bay? Get involved and do something before Racine is the first city in Wisconsin to file bankruptcy ....check this site out if you get a chance.... http://racineexaminer.tumblr.com/

Make your argument with your vote. We can't be more miles apart on this topic. I did go to the tumblr site. While I can't approve of bathroom spending.... the key topic in all these fights is the reduction of local "shared revenue" from the state.

If you don't know what that is, it is the taxes you and I, John Q. Public have paid for services in our local communities and our state. It is the money that should be going to educate our children, plow our streets and fund our police and fire departments. Keep cutting on this level and you'll get what you pay for, less dedicated, less trained, more turnover.

The "tools" in Act 10, simply make the public employees pay an undue share of "tax" without a return of services. Where does that money go? Not to the fricking deficit, it goes to reduce taxes on corporations and on those who make more money than the shmoes who are seeing a reduction in pay and benefits. Much like the trickle down theory of the 80's. Supposedly, this will bring jobs to our area and solve all our problems.

Take a look at how many of those promised 250,000 jobs Scotty has been able to produce. Pitiful. Most of those jobs are not even living wage jobs. Talk about feeding your cronies.... Scotty and his band of idiots are looking for nothing more than self promotion.

The part about the services the City provides, really drives me nuts. I completely understand that the bulk of property taxes comes from the RUSD, or our school district up here, but I always want to ask just WHAT the City provides for their share? I can't be certain about Racine, because I have been gone for 20 years, but here, we have to pay for EVERYTHING over, and above our regular property taxes. Rescue, Water, Sewer, Fire, Park Rental, Etc. I want to know WHAT the hell we get for our taxes? If they say Police Protection, that's not true, because they go off duty at 5:00 p.m. every day, and the Sheriff takes over. It's just ANOTHER little/BIG thing that pisses me off.

Orb's, You know what? I look at that picture of your mayor, and he looks so much like Achminijad.

How about someone send Dickert a letter asking him to pay for his personal legal fees?

Mt Pleasant's leader resigned recently, Dickert should do the same.

Can someone buy Dickert a tie so we dont have to keep seeing the yellow one?

OrbsCorbs said...

He has a pastel blue one, too, but the yellow one is his favorite.

Dickert has done nothing but piss away our money and lie to us for years. It's catching up to him. Already there is talk of cutting public services. I hope it happens, on a massive scale. Hurting the poor is politically correct because they have no power. Start cutting services above that and then maybe the public will investigate Dickert and his crimes.

Glad to see another Racine website scoop the John Dickert Times once again.

Sooner or later there will be a straw that breaks the camel's back. Let's hope it's sooner before we become mini-Detroit.

No worries Orbs, I'm one of the good guys fighting for what is right.

The more, the merrier, to expose and change this Chicago-style Racine city government.
