Sad day. Fairwell Hostess.

Once again management/BOD gave themselves raises and bonuses and demanded that the help work for peanuts. The Bakers said sorry Charley, and management closed the doors on 18,000 workers. Get your Twinkies while you can, and the Hostess outlet store will close in a week.

Huck, A business ploy by Hostess. Take my word for It. YES, the 18000 workers will be without a job, but many will be re-hired, when the product Is purchased by other baking companies. It's just ANOTHER Union busting move made possible by our Governments policies toward BUSINESS Bankruptsy. As a consumer I can sometimes (recently) purchase Hostess Pies for $1.00 EA. and that Is actually a low price for that product. How can a company lose money with the margin they must make on their product?

I have to agree with most of what Toad said. This is a heck of a rotten thing for the workers and the economy. Workers in general have lost so much ground in the past few years. The divisive mentality between the haves and the "other folks" that seems to be politically correct, just took another step forward.

HOHO"s TWINKIES, CUPCAKES ect. ect. ect. is no loss for the health consconsious eater. The closing is another sad indicator of how badly the economy is really doing, and how the elective/luxury items are now taking a beating. The third worlding of America continues with the damned democrats and republicans.....
We are fast becoming a pagan nation.
Evil flourishes where good people do nothing.

I love Hostess cupcakes. If some other company takes over, will they taste the same?

Geez, I've been reading about this. I didn't realize how many different products that Hostess makes. I like Beefsteak Rye Bread. They make that.

Vending machines, and trucks etc. don't sell healthy foods, but they sell them by the MILLIONS. I really don't think Hostess was suffering. I will tell you, that the books were probably cooked? Nah, that couldn't happen In America.

When people buy a Twinkie or cupcake, they don’t worry about it being a healthy choice, they just want the ‘sweet tooth’ fix…

I'd say that the books were more likely baked.

What about the generic/store brand twinkies? Those will still be available. I haven't had one in years, but with all this talk about it, now I want one, der. Next grocery stop will include them... if there are any to be had. I like my twinkies frozen.

70 people lost their living-wage jobs at P&H Mining in Milwaukee today. I really feel for anyone who finds themselves in this position. It is a terrible time to be looking for work and worrying about healthcare insurance.

Thank goodness our Governor has a handle on creating those 250,000 jobs statewide he promised during his campaign for office. (sarcasm)

This is sad...I will have nothing to eat at midnight. Cherry pies are the best at 480 calories per
serving, which is one pie. I am surprised they don't trick us and say there are 2 servings in a package.

Oh BLB, I remember putting the cherry pie in the microwave for a minute and then putting ice cream on it. Hmm, there is a 7-11 right around the corner. Might have to stop.

The Hostess Cherry pies are the BEST. They are the only ones I can almost never find. They have had all the Hostess stuff on sale at the local grocery store at 10 for $10.00, but the only ones they ever have are the Apple. YUK.

And soon they will all be in glass display cubes with other "relics".

No one mentioned the Suzy-Q. That one was always on top of my list.
