Usless Information

Did you know:

Over 14,000 ships go through the Panama Canal ever year and the canal is 100+ years old.

There is a combination of 3 locks at one end that lift or lower the ships 80 feet from the lake level to the ocean level.

I did know that. There is also a camera where you can watch the ships come and go. It's pretty neat.

BTW, I should tell you the only reason I know this is my nephew was bringing a yacht back and had to go through the canal. It is really neat to watch.

My wife, and MIL, went through It on a cruise ship about 15 years ago. She said It was really neat.

My husband and I went through on a cruise as well. Best thing about the cruise...

Beejay, A friend of mine, him and wife did a cruise and the only reason they took it was it went through the canal, they too said it was really cool. They didn't care where the cruise was going just as long as it went through there.

SER, That tell's me that giving the canal away, was just another one of America's fine moves.

Toad, the French started the canal, after losing over 20,000 people and doing a bad job the US took it over. They (we) also lost a lot of people at first until they got safety things in place and took care of the malaria problem.

Then we gave it away...I couldn't belive it! I believe when it turned a 100 they gave it to Panama. What a bunch of shit...

I used to watch the ships come and go on the webcams. Most of the ships were HUGE and held trailer containers of merchandise from China. This is the website http://www.pancanal.com/eng/photo/camera-java.html

You can look from several cameras. Occasionally, very cool tropical birds would land on poles. I see that some of the cameras are not functioning due to lightning strikes back in September.

I betcha if we felt it was necessary, we would seize the Panama Canal.

We would buy it only to give it away again.
