I don't know if laws need to be changed or made, but I was bullied by classmates at a vulnerable age.  To this day, I can't stand being in a crowd. The hairs on the back of my neck stand up and I expect to be attacked by a mob.

The bullying and general meanness and disregard for others (including adults and even the police) that takes place in schools is more than most people can even imagine.

The verbal and physical attacks are the cause of much of the fighting and general chaos that interrupts the education process. The escalation of this behavior is making everyone in the profession totally frustrated.

With texting and electronic social media websites and Internet access 24 hours of the day, most kids get no break from the onslaught of gossip, attacks and provocation.

According to news reports, this student was dealing with mental health issues, along with the bullying. Such a sad thing to happen with someone who could have had so much ahead of them.

I was bullied for years. Even teachers bullied me. The bigger problem was I returned the favor to others. It's a mean cycle, and some of my family Is just as responsible as others. The low self esteem It creates lasts FOREVER. I however will NEVER condone someone taking their own life because of It. As a matter of fact, I will NEVER condone anyone taking their own life.
