The sad truth is that this drug has made its way into the high schools. What is sadder, still, is that it remains hush-hush and hidden. I understand confidentiality, but to me.... dangerous secrets are a disservice and a shameful thing. I've seen too many ambulances leave the schools with young people who have made a substance mistake.

People should know that our children are at risk. The children, themselves, should know that they are at risk. As cold and hard as it seems... information should go out when a death is heroin related.

Heroin is no longer a drug solely injected. It can be used with different delivery methods. Some, especially younger users don't make the connection to the danger involved if there is no needle.

Be careful with your medications and dispose properly any unused prescription drugs. Use collection sites, don't flush and pollute the environment.

Many who turn to heroin begin their addictions with legal drugs, probably prescribed to themselves, mom, dad, or their grandparents.

Another case of the do-gooders messing it up.

They've cracked down hard on prescription painkillers.

So people turn to heroin instead.

Rarely can we legislate behavior. Didn't we learn anything from Prohibition?

Good statement Orbs.

I have mixed emotions on drug overdoses and rehab. In many cases I really don’t care if the individual OD’s and dies and in others I feel sad that it had to happen, I always feel bad for the people they left behind.

With rehab, I know it’s a community thing yet why do I have to pay (through taxes) to help out some asshole who can’t help themselves and on the other hand there are some I don’t mind helping.

They say “you have to take the good with the bad”, well that’s bullshit as far as I’m concerned. That would be like buying a brand new car and when it gets delivered to you it has 3 new tires and 1 beat up piece of shit with a different rim and you have to accept it because you have to take the good with the bad…ya right.

I know not all rehab centers are state of federally funded or supported; some of self-supported through their clients/patients.

But I am glad there are those people out there who want to help and are trying something to make a change.
