"In 1990 the US Congress established the first full week of October as Mental Illness Awareness Week in recognition of NAMI’s efforts to raise mental illness awareness. Mental Illness Awareness Week is an important opportunity to learn the symptoms of major mental illness and also an opportunity for conversation about mental illness in our community helping to end the silence that often exists.

"One in four adults experience a mental health problem every year. One in five children and teens also experience serious emotional disorders. No one should have to confront mental illness alone."
