I spent nearly 3 years there - working at the switch - the area encompassed by the green walls. The 60-Worst were a mobile radar unit for directing fighters. I lived in the 3 story white building. I can still remember fighters from Bitburg screaming down at tree top level on training missions.
It now lies abandoned and wasting away. The Forest is littered with blown up concrete bunkers - ala WWII - trenches, ammunition, gas masks, jerry cans, and human remains. RIP.
