The garbage truck Donald Trump rode while in Green Bay will be present for Inauguration Day

When President-elect Donald Trump landed at the Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport back in October, he used a unique prop: a garbage truck decked out in the Trump campaign logo.
That moment went viral, and it will now be revisited again on Monday, for Inauguration Day.
Three Trump-decaled trucks are expected to make an appearance Monday near the U.S. Capitol when Trump is sworn into office. One truck will be driven during the Inauguration's parade, while the other two will be on display.
The trucks are being provided by Loadmaster, a truck manufacturing company in Norway, Michigan, which is about 100 miles north of Green Bay.
Ethan Brisson, the sales and marketing manager for Loadmaster, confirmed the accommodations with the Press-Gazette, and recounted the day they were contacted to get a truck for the now elected president who he was headed to a campaign event at the Resch Center in Ashwaubenon.
"A guy that worked for a large waste hauler in Wisconsin contacted our office. He's very involved with the Wisconsin GOP," Brisson told the Press-Gazette. "My brother took the phone call and basically just brought a truck down there."
Days earlier at a Trump rally in New York, one speaker referred to Puerto Rico as a "floating island of garbage." President Joe Biden responded to that comment by appearing to refer to Trump supporters as "garbage."
The garbage truck was Trump's response.
The original truck, which will be in D.C., was then displayed in Indianapolis, because that was the location of the dealer who owned the truck. All three trucks are already in D.C. for the inauguration.
Brisson said his brother, Andrew, who is the vice president of Loadmaster, will drive the truck during the inauguration parade.
"It's a big thing for us. We're kind of a smaller company and it's a lot of press for us," Ethan Brisson said. "We're just trying to get our name out there."
During the speech, Trump wore an orange safety vest that was provided by Andrew Brison, who bought it from a local Fleet Farm. They had wanted the vest back as a memento, but Trump wore it on the plane leaving the Green Bay area that night.

Milwaukee police could help with public safety at Donald Trump's inauguration

Milwaukee police are poised to be at former President Donald Trump's inauguration in two months.
The inauguration is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. On Thursday, the city's Public Safety and Health Committee moved forward a proposal where some officers would assist in traffic control for the parade, pending further approvals.
"Historically, for inaugurations, they seek assistance from other jurisdictions for the lift of public safety," Milwaukee Police Chief of Staff Heather Hough told the council's Public Safety and Health Committee.

Participating officers would not be "taken off the street of Milwaukee" but asked to use their personal time, whether vacation or other off time, to participate, she said. The U.S. Department of Justice would cover expenses associated with sending officers to the inauguration.
Officers would not be involved in activities like crowd control or handling civil disturbances, said James Lewis, risk manager for Milwaukee police.
Final approval for police participation in the inauguration awaits approval by the full Common Council. The department also needs approval from the Wisconsin Attorney General, according to Lewis who spoke at the Thursday meeting.

US shocked after National Guardsmen kicked out of Capitol Building and forced to lodge at parking lot after inauguration

The US Capitol Police are in hot water again, after ordering National Guardsmen protecting the Capitol in Washington, DC to leave and find accommodation elsewhere. The decision was overturned hours later amid a public outcry.
Almost 26,000 National Guard troops were flown and bussed to the US capital from all around the country after the January 6 riot. The unprecedented military surge made Washington, DC look like a US-occupied foreign city such as Fallujah, according to some commenters. Joe Biden’s inauguration day came and passed without any public disturbances.
The special security event announced by the US Secret Service for the inauguration ceremony ended at noon on Thursday. Somebody in the US Capitol Police then seemingly decided it was high time for National Guard troops to vacate the Capitol Building, where they had been quartered for two weeks.
Hundreds of Guardsmen were suddenly expelled and forced to look for a new place to sleep – including in the nearby congressional parking garages. The troops there suffered from shortages of restrooms and sockets to charge devices, plus exhaust fumes, overcrowding, and other issues. Understandably, the eviction left many of them with a feeling of humiliation and betrayal.
“It’s f**ked up because it just shows how politicians really feel about the National Guard,” one of them told Task & Purpose. “Leaving our families for the last two weeks to come down here … it’s certainly important and historic, but the day after inauguration you kick us literally to the curb? Come on, man.”
“The next time DC calls, we will let it go to voicemail,” a soldier interviewed by Military Times joked.
Images of soldiers napping on the ground in a parking lot unleashed a wave of public fury. Lawmakers on both sides of the political aisle offered the Guardsmen their offices as lodging.
Congressman Madison Cawthorn visited the troops with some pizzas and an assurance that no soldier will sleep on a garage floor as long as he has something to say about it.
Other politicians seized the opportunity for some partisan bickering as they blamed the other side for the mistreatment of the troops.
Hours after the story was first broken by Politico – and seemingly with quite a few phone calls involved – the Capitol Police apologized to the Guardsmen and allowed them back into the Capitol Building.
“Because of the MASSIVE backlash over this, we are now being allowed back into the Senate building,” a soldier told Military Times. “We’re going to make a big show of marching back into the building.”
It remains unclear why the troops were kicked out from the Capitol in the first place, the incident has exposed the Capitol Police to fresh criticism. The force is already under fire due its failure to anticipate the Capitol riot and dispatch enough troops to prevent Donald Trump’s supporters from breaking into the national legislature. Chief Steven Sund resigned after the January 6 fiasco.
The scandal comes as the National Guard pulls back its troops from Washington following the inauguration surge. Thousands have already left, though the Guard expects it may take up to 10 days to complete the drawdown. Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that his state’s troops will be returning home on Thursday night, though it was not clear if the order was scheduled or a response to the garage situation.
