Alignment Test

Alignment

"A creature's general moral and personal attitudes are represented by its alignment: lawful good, neutral good, chaotic good, lawful neutral, neutral, chaotic neutral, lawful evil, neutral evil, or chaotic evil.

"Alignment is a tool for developing your character's identity. It is not a straitjacket for restricting your character. Each alignment represents a broad range of personality types or personal philosophies, so two characters of the same alignment can still be quite different from each other. In addition, few people are completely consistent."

"AT&T to launch ultra-fast home Internet service in Milwaukee in 2016"

From JSOnline:

By Rick Barrett of the Journal Sentinel

"AT&T Inc. says it will begin offering ultra-fast home Internet service, aimed at customers with online demands such as downloading videos and teleconferencing, in the Milwaukee area in 2016.

"Milwaukee will be one of 38 metro markets to receive the gigabit service to homes, apartments and small businesses sometime next year, AT&T said Monday.

"The GigaPower service will give customers a 1-gigabit per second broadband connection, which is about 50 times faster than what many people have at home.

"That's enough speed to download 25 songs in a second, a TV show in less than three seconds or a high-definition movie in 36 seconds.

"Milwaukee will be AT&T's first GigaPower city in Wisconsin, although the company currently offers gigabit speeds to large businesses, office buildings and business parks in the metro area.

"The company did not disclose the specific time frame for the rollout next year and did not identify which neighborhoods will receive the service. It also did not announce a price, but GigaPower in some cities costs about $120 a month."

"eye surgery for kitten"

Created December 4, 2015

Nicole Sweely

"I had a craigslist post either looking for a home, rescue, or help with this kittens vet bills and someone responded that maybe I should get a gofundme account, one person responded that she could find a cheaper vet but I'm understanding that that means they take away other procedures from the surgery. The vet got me down to 379 with by taking away the pre surgery blood work and a diagnostic exam for the eye after they remove it, but she's 11 months old and only 3 and a half pounds so she already could have other problems so I would like to try to keep those things in the price, if I could. Even though i don't think I can keep her I'd like to do it right. I think 700 will cover the surgery, the diagnostic procedure, the blood work and any medication or follow up appointments afterward. The story with her is I first saw her about 4 weeks ago taking my dog to her sitters, the kitten was sitting in front of her house meowing and walked right up to my dog and nuzzled her, and I had asked the sitter whose she was? She said she was her sisters. Her eye was red at the time but it didn't look too bad and I thought it would either heal or that they were treating it. Yesterday was the second time I've seen her since 4 weeks ago and her eye was huge. It was 3 times bigger, and I asked the sitter of they were taking her to a vet. She said yes but didn't seem concerned. She also said they were moving to a new place Friday (today). And since the cat was her sisters I didn'. Know what was going to happen so I drove home calling different groups to see if I could get the kitty to the vet at low cost, and found vet in plano. All the stuff I said at the beginning is what I found out from her. I took the kitty into about 3 different stores yesterday picking up food and Supplies and she purred on.my shoulder the whole time. Even with a big bulging eye she is so sweet. The vet gave me 5 days of pain meds but she didn't want to wait long to get the surgery so that's all the time I have to figure out what's going to happen. In.the end I hope I can.find a rescue or a new family since I won't have a lot of time to spend with Her during.her recovery and I can't keep her. If I get any funding I'll give any left over money to the vet assigned to take care of her or else the rescue she goes to (if that's what happens). I just want to make sure she is cared for. Any thing will help. Thank you."

They're usually better company, anyway.

Dear Madame Zoltar

Season's Greetings, my dear, darling elves.  How are you?  I hope that you all had a good Thanksgiving.  I'm glad it didn't snow.  Our temps have been seasonal.  That blockbuster snowstorm was a pain in the tutu, but otherwise I guess we're doing OK.  "They" say there may be a dusting of snow on the ground when you read this.  Or maybe 12 inches of heavy, wet snow.  Or the Second Coming.  It doesn't matter what you predict as a meteorologist.  Really, it doesn't matter.  I think they vie for the most absurd prediction.

As for our most vaunted Green Bay Packers, I think they ate too much turkey and let the Chicago Bears beat them.  C'mon boys, we're used to being near the top of the heap, not the middle.  Their next match-up is at the Detroit Lions on Thursday, December 3rd,  tomorrow night, at 7:25 PM.  Make them pay, boys, for your recent losses.

Here are the latest standings from the Irregular Football League:

The Mighty Bears are at the top of the Irregulars' heap.  Congratulations.  The Orbliterators, meanwhile, are carp food.  Oh dear!  Did Ms. THB and Ms. OKIE have a bet on the real game?  Did Ms. kk watch one of her favorites, Brett Favre, during his number (4)  retirement on Thanksgiving?  Old Bart Starr was there, but he's the Packer's hero of my generation.  "The 81-year-old Starr is recovering from two strokes and a heart attack." JSOnline. Christ, I'm surprised he's still upright.  Then again, quarterbacks usually don't suffer injuries like linemen.

We've started decorating at our house.  Everyone pitches in.  We usually select one day when we're going to get a tree  After the tree is up and lit, we spend the rest of the day decorating it.  After that, everyone puts up some decorations.  Before long, it looks like Christmas here.

As for the outdoor lights, I'd just as soon that they don't get put up.  Señor Zanza and Junior usually do the work.  I'm always apprehensive that they'll fall or get electrocuted.  Every year, I'm out-voted on that one.  Just don't blame me if the worst happens.  I'd be fine with lights or candles in the windows.  Somehow, every year, it all gets done.

Christmas is supposed to be a time of joy and  goodwill.  All too often, though, it's exactly the opposite.  If the holidays get you down, don't suffer in silence.  There are support groups for those depressed by the holidays.  Or just slow down and talk with a friend.  The whole holiday season can be draining and/or unnerving to some.  Remember what this time of year is for.  I don't think Jesus is more impressed with a home that has thousands of holiday lights on it, than He is by your simple prayer.

Thank you to all of my readers for stopping by to check out my blog this week.  I love and respect each and every one of you.  I even respect those that don't read my blog because they soon will be.

Drive (and walk) safely, my friends.  Sometimes just a little snow is worse than a lot.  People feel over-confident and slip slide their way on.  Steady as she goes and you'll get there.  Allot yourself more time.  I love you all.

On a broader subject, what is it with lip injections? Most of the movie stars and models who have had the procedure done look like fish.

"Don't know why, but I want one"

From The Lonely Libertarian :

Me want, too!  I'm an old VW fan.  I've owned a few beetles, but never a micro-bus.  I believe the old style VWs are still in production in other countries.

Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my Thanksgiving gobblers and giblets!  How are you?  Wasn't that heavy, wet snow the other day delightful?  I can hardly wait for winter to come.  And go!  Dump your load and get out of here so we can get back to normal lives.  Right now, "they" are saying rain for tomorrow and Friday.  That's better than the snow they were originally predicting, but it could still snarl up some traffic and soak Black Friday shoppers.  My main concern is holiday travelers.  Leave yourselves plenty of time to get where you're going.  And try, for once, driving a little slower.

I hope that nothing more slows down our beloved Green Bay Packers on their road to the Super Bowl..  They smashed the Minnesota Vikings this past Sunday. Now, they meet the Chicago Bears tomorrow (Thanksgiving) evening at home starting at 7:30 PM.  Don't eat so much food that you sleep through this one. The Packers and the Bears have a longstanding feud with each other.  Over what?  They don't know.  It doesn't matter; each team aspires to demolish the other.  Often Packers-Bears matches get very physical, very soon.  This promises to be either very good or very bad or both.  I hope that Ms. Tender Heart Bear doesn't mind watching her team get beat down.

Here are this week's standings in the Irregular Football League:

They haven;t changed since last week.  How irregular!

Thanksgiving is a time to take note of what you're grateful for.  Besides my life, I"m grateful for Junior,   Señor Zanza, my family, my friends, the JT Irregulars, and any soul that I've touched in any way.

I'm grateful for food to eat, a roof over my head, and clothes on my back.  I'm also grateful for cartoons:

Thank you to all my readers.  Irregular or not, you are why this blog is here.  You spread joy.  You share love.

When's the next big storm coming?  Ask MadameZoltar@jtirregulars.com

I wish for a very Happy Thanksgiving for all of my friends and not friends.  This is what family is for.  Enjoy your holiday.  Give thanks to the Lord.

"Opinion: Gratitude Has Nothing To Do With Glasses"

From Racine County Eye:

By Denise Lockwood in Community · November 24, 2015 · No comments

Credit - Eacine County Eye
"Gratitude is a funny thing. We often talk about it in the context of a glass being half full rather than half empty, and based on the level of that container’s fullness or lack there of, we sit… glass in hand… happy or sad.

"See, I think that’s where we the idea of gratitude wrong. I mean who among us hasn’t had our glass mysteriously emptied? Over my career I’ve met many people whose glasses were far from half full or half empty, and yet they persevered. I have often selfishly tucked their memories in the back of my mind. Most of these people didn’t know how much of an impact they had on me, but they did.

"So I thought I would share these stories with you.

"When Death Seems Like A Blessing

"Writing for the West Allis Star when, my editor Roger Bartel challenged us to find people who had overcome adversity. I met John from West Allis when he was a senior at Nathan Hale High School in 2007.

"John, who was 18-years-old, told me he wasn’t struggling to overcome anything, he was dying. And while many of his peers were just starting to build their lives, his life was ending because he had a rare and terminal disease called Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. I wrote about how he prepared for his death. He wanted an open casket during his funeral to make his mom happy, but wanted to be cremated in an urn the shape of a race car.

"He wanted his funeral to be a party with balloons, cake and music. His gratitude came in the form of the comfort he received in knowing that one day he would die and not be in pain anymore. But his attitude kept him grounded in the here and now. He spent the year doing what his body allowed him to, but one of the highlights was that he got to meet a race car driver. Almost a year later, John died at 18-years-old and his funeral was just that… a party.

"When Pain and Frustration Help You Take On The World

"After being laid off from the Kenosha News, I decided that I wanted to write about the mental health system. So many police reports reflected the shortcomings of our current mental health system and that’s how I met Brenda Wesley when I wrote about her sister Betty Cahn for the Milwaukee Magazine. The story solidified what I had always known about the mental health system in Milwaukee County, woefully inadequate but so many clung to the notion that it was better than nothing. At the time, the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex received 12,000 people in crisis and 80 percent of them were turned away.

"'Because she’s not laid out on the floor overdosing on meds, and she hasn’t hit anyone or threatened to kill someone, they won’t take her to the complex or an emergency detention,' Brenda told me.

"Over the years, Brenda’s frustration with the system in trying to get her sister help eventually yielded to finding the strength and courage to write her own play called 'Pieces,' which aims to cut through the stigma around mental illness, and working with a number of police officers on crisis intervention training. These were her contributions to making the system better by helping the community understand what her family went through.

"If What Is Before You Doesn’t Serve You, Choose Another Path

"So you might wonder what these two stories have anything to do with gratitude. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve learned that true gratitude is about acceptance of what is happening in your life, and realizing some of it may not be in your control. But with acceptance and gratitude you stop fighting what you can’t change and start taking on what you can.

"John couldn’t change that he was dying, but he could accept it and plan for it. He could also free his mind up for other things… like meeting a race car driver. For Brenda, she couldn’t save Betty from her mental illness but she could help the system become more empowered in how they treated people with mental illness.

"And those are lessons I think we can all learn from. But the truth about being a journalist is that stories change me all the time and that has always been something I am grateful for."

"John F. Kennedy was the 35th President of the United States (1961-1963), the youngest man elected to the office. On November 22, 1963, when he was hardly past his first thousand days in office, JFK was assassinated in Dallas, Texas, becoming also the youngest President to die."

The JFK assassination was my first experience of a moment in time when you forever remember exactly where you were and what you were doing when you heard the news.  Too many more moments like those occurred.

I believe that the JFK assassination changed the world.
