Romance in Aisle 9

The other day I was in our local WalPuke Neighborhood Mart, walking from the back of the store to the front.  Why are the things I want always in the back?  Is this some diabolical plot to expose me to all the other products?

While walking, I got that feeling you get when someone is staring at you.  To the right up ahead was a woman checking me out.  ME!  She looked to be in her thirties and was fairly attractive.  As I approached her, I gave her a wide smile.

No reaction.

Then I thought, "Store detective."

Well, thank you Lord for even the few seconds of elation.

The only people interested in this body anymore are in the medical field.

Four for Fridays!

This week went by so fast for me. I just feel like I did not get anything accomplished at all this week. I wanted to get out more to get pictures and I didn't get to do to much of that this week. I also had my last physical therapy yesterday with that I had to do different kinds of tests and passed all of it. I had a hard time coming up with some questions for you today but I did so here they are.

1) Do you ever do something you really do not want to do just to make someone else happy?

2) Do you watch any kind of sports on t.v. and what is it?

3) Do you think that the kids these days are to spoiled with all of the electronics's that are out now?

4) Do you ever wish that you did things different in your life?

I hope everyone stays warm and has a great day!

More Body Parts Selfies

I went to the lab a couple of days ago for blood work (and pee-work, and whatever else work).  When it came time to draw blood, the technician asked, "Which arm do they usually use?" I said, "I think it's usually the right one, but I have shingles and it extends down my right arm almost to my elbow.  I'm worried about tying off some of the shingles."

"OK," she said, "then we'll go with the left arm."  She tried and tried to draw blood, but it wouldn't flow.  The above pic is what my left arm looks like where she tried.

I said, "Go with the right arm.  It'll be OK."  And it was, as far as the tying off.  The technician said, "Ah, now I see why they use this side."

She stuck in the needle and still no blood flowed into the hypodermic.  She pushed it side to side and up and down.  She said, "Doesn't this hurt?" And I said, "Yes."

Suddenly, blood started to flow through the hypodermic needle.  She said, "Operator error.  I didn't go deep enough."

I think she went through one vein and into another.  Below is how my right arm looks.

"Man barricaded in house in police custody after dancing on roof"

"Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a house on the 3500 block of Layman Avenue around 10:30 a.m. for a barricaded subject.

"Police say a man, later identified by authorities as Matthew Russ, 25, stole his ex-girlfriend's keys from her house, took her car and crashed it into a pole.

"Police say they found Russ in a chair in the driveway holding a knife.

"He then went into the house and onto the roof with the knife in his hand. An IMPD officer then fired rubber bullets at him, and he retreated back into the house.

"Around 11 a.m., smoke was seen coming from the house, leading to the fire department being called to the scene.

"Russ came back out as a detective tried to talk him off the roof. He threw his knife at the ground, but didn't leave the roof.

"Russ then began dancing on the roof with smoke and flames behind him. Police went in the aerial ladder, tased him, then took him into custody at around 11:40 a.m.

"Police say the man is known to have anger issues. He was smiling as he was taken away on a gurney."

Did you see what he did to that utility pole?  Then he sets her house on fire.  Then he fucks with the firefighters trying to save his ass.  Shoulda let him "Burn, baby, burn!"

Monday!

Finally back in Tucson. Didn't get to meet the president...he didn't really wander the exhibits or telescopes after his speech, but did meet the Mythbusters and a bunch of astronauts. If you know the White House grounds, my scope was setup up down by the fountain.  Still in a bit of a daze and wondering did THAT really happen?

Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my marvelous mob!  How are you?  Today is supposed to be in the 70's weather-wise.  But then the slide continues.  I was talking with a neighbor and she said she'd been in the mountains of Vermont two days ago and it was s-wording.  "Wash your mouth out with soap!" I exclaimed at her.  I desire to remain in complete denial about winter.  Winter?  What's winter?  I must admit that the leaves of the tree on the lot across the street are red on top of the tree and green on the bottom.  I know "it's" coming.  So is death, but I don't bray on about it.  We'll get through it.  We always do.  What I find astonishing are old photos of winter.  We can barely deal with it now.  How did they do it?

Our outstanding and other-worldly Green Bay Packers checkmated the San Diego Chargers this Sunday past.  Now they have a bye week.  Sometimes I don't know if a bye week is good for a team or not.  If your team has sustained a lot of injuries, I suppose it's good.  But I worry about sustaining momentum with an extra week off.

The momentum must've stopped in the Irregular Football League because the standings remain the same after a week.

Mr. OrbsCorbs contacted me about his shingles in the hope of a cure or effective treatment.  I gave him a bottle of Madame Zoltar's® Shingles Shoo-Away™. I haven't seen or heard from Mr. Corbs since.  I hope that he realizes that the Shingles Shoo-Away is supposed to be applied topically and not drunk.

After seeing Mr. Corbs' sores, I've decided to get the shingles shot. Some immunity is better than none.  I think I'm going to get the flu shot, too.  I'll get all shot up.

Junior's been getting all excited about Halloween, but I think he might be a bit old to go out trick or treating. I think I've mentioned in the past that Junior is a bit on the heavy side.  He doesn't need the candy and other goodies people will be handing out.  Then again, I love chocolate.  Maybe I'll accompany Junior.  My "costume" is perfect: fortune teller.

No, no, no, I have to lose some weight, too.  Señor Zanza eats whatever he wants, whenever he wants, and he stays rail thin.  Don't you just hate people like that?  It's like they're born with an immunity to fat.  Bottle that stuff and become a millionaire.  Meanwhile, the same old same old applies to weight loss: diet and exercise.  I can't seem to control either.  But I think I'm learning not to obsess about it so much.  Some of it is a matter of learning to love who I am.  I mean, they PhotoShop the pictures of the women on magazine covers to make them appear absurdly thin.  No one really looks like that.  Accept yourself and improve when and where you see fit.

I've tried reading news stories in an effort to make sense out of what is happening internationally.  Forget it.  They're nuts.  There are way too many factions in way too many countries to figure them out.  It just seems like it's war all of the time.  Most of us in the West can lead "normal" lives.  Where out troops are fighting, though, nothing is "normal" but death and destruction.  Many of our opponents claim to be fighting a holy war.  Did it ever occur to them that if God wanted something a certain way, it would be so? God doesn't need our help in killing, He needs our help in loving.  It's so. so easy to destroy things, and so, so difficult to create them.

Finally, my dears, here's a little picture to make you smile:

Oh my!

Thank you for stopping by to read my blog today.  I love readers.  I love the Irregulars.  I love having your company.  Slow down, relax, take it easy.

"Wheaton Franciscan Mental Health Unit Cited For Violations"

From Racine County Eye:

By Denise Lockwood in Breaking, Health and fitness · October 16, 2015 · No comment

Credit - Racine County Eye
"A state and federal investigation uncovered inconsistent staffing levels resulting in an unsafe environment for patients at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints inpatient mental health unit.

"Acting on several complaints, surveyors from the State Division of Quality Assurance (DQA), and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMMS) conducted an unannounced visit in May to the children and adolescent unit, and adult inpatient mental health units at 1320 Wisconsin Avenue.

"The investigation by DQA and CMMS uncovered instances of uncontrollable adolescents being placed in the same unit as sex offenders, a number of sexual assaults between patients, discriminatory admission practices, and nurses being told by management to falsify safety checks by saying the checks were conducted when they were not."

Shingles Selfie

See that shit near my armpit?  That wraps around to my back. but there's no one else here to take a back photo but me and Charlie.  I tried a few times and gave up.  The shit follows neural pathways.  If you touch it, it hurts like hell. Wearing clothing is painful.

20 % of shingles sufferers suffer permanent nerve damage from the disease.  And it can reappear, in the same or different locations.  I was told today that triggers include a low immune system (not that I'm aware of) and stress.  Bingo!  Stress is coming out of every orifice of my body.  If they could convert stress to electricity, I could probably light up a mid-sized town.

I remember asking my physician about the shingles vaccine last year.  He didn't seem too enthused.  Check out this site: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/vpd-vac/shingles/vacc-need-know.htm  Even the CDC admits that the shingles vaccine is only about 60% effective.

So, we'll see how this progresses and take it from there.  Hopefully I got on the anti-viral soon enough.  Whatever, once I'm healthy again, I think I'll get the shingles shot if my insurance covers it.  I heard it's expensive.  But if there's anything I can do to avoid a repeat of this, I'm going for it.

I hear it can take a long, long time for shingles to heal.  I don't know if I have that much time left.

Four for Fridays!

I am so sorry I am getting this up on here a little late. It feels like this week just flew by me and I feel like I have not gotten anything done that I wanted to get done. I just hope everyone is staying warm this weekend because the temps are going to be cold. Here are the questions for this week.

1) Do you remember any of the theme's you had for your Birthday party when you were younger?

2) Do you keep in contact with any of you friends from school?

3) When you pack some things away do you prefer to use plastic bins or boxes?

4) Do you have any of your favorite shows on dvd or vhs?

Have a good weekend!

From Pattern or Practice:

Posted: October 13, 2015 in The Film

"While there is a lot of reading, you as a reader can go behind the scenes and feel the clumsily staging of the Racine Mayor, the probing of the attorneys as they seek out the racketeering that was included in the complaint. The puzzle pieces begin to fit together winding thru the other depositions. After reading these you will see why they settled."

Halloween

While I was out getting the Fall Color pictures I did find some nice Halloween pictures to share with everyone. I guess one goes with the other while I am out driving around. The only problem with the Halloween pictures is a little harder to find this year because not everyone is putting up the decorations this year. Here is what I have found this time.

This picture is on the corner of Ohio St. and Byrd St. in Racine Wi.

This picture was taken out in Lomira Wi when we went to Horicon Marsh.

"Summer appears to have had its last hurrah, and the proof is the first frost forecast for this weekend. Sign.

"WISN 12  News Meteorologist Mark Baden posted on Twitter Tuesday night that eastern Racine County is on course for some patchy fog Saturday night into Sunday morning.

"The news station’s weather blog indicates the area is on pretty much on schedule for its first frost: sometime between Oct. 11 and Oct. 20.

"After the cool down, though, temperatures could be on a short upward swing before the end of the month, the post continues."

"Excellence in Racine: Police Pals & Importance of Mentoring"

From Racine County Eye:

By Heather Asiyanbi in Schools · October 14, 2015 · No comments

"Racine police Investigator Jody Spiegelhoff wasn’t sure what she was getting into when she signed up to be part of the Police Pals – Racine Unified mentoring program three years ago, but she thinks more people should get into mentoring because of the marked positive impact the program has on students.

"As a police officer with a number of years of experience, Spiegelhoff deals with her fair share of kids, but until she started mentoring at the Racine Unified School District, most of those interactions were the result of criminal activity. Becoming a mentor gave her the opportunity to get involved with students in a different way.

"'I am lucky to have two girls,' she said in a recent video interview with district representatives. 'I get to be with them and follow them through this bumpy time. It’s neat to listen to each other because this is not a mother-daughter and it goes beyond just friends.'

"One of her mentees, Migali Hernandez, has been partnered with Spiegelhoff for three years, and she said the best part of their relationship is that Spiegelhoff helps her work through stuff, and they do fun things together like making cards and putting together a scrapbook.

"Spiegelhoff thinks more people should get involved in mentoring because of the growth trajectory she sees in her students.

"'It’s great to see them grow and become more mature," she said. 'The biggest change I’ve seen in both girls is improved problem solving on their own; taking discussions and applying them. I’ve also seen both of their grades improve.'

"To become a mentor, please visit the Racine Unified mentoring pages on the district’s website. "

Fall Colors!

This time I went to a safe place to get some Fall Colors to share with every one. I think this week is going to be the last week we see any kind of colors with the winds blowing the leaves off the trees. It is like I go to some places and there is no color changing and then I go some place else and it is just so beautiful. I am going to try to get out some more to get pictures this week. The first picture is just on Ohio St. in Racine Wi and then the rest will be from Pritchard Park in Racine Wi.

I hope everyone enjoys the pictures I really enjoyed going out to take them to share with you. There are more to come. Enjoy your day.

Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my dear angels!  How are you?  We’re still playing yo-yo weather temperatures.  Sunday got to 84 degrees!  Now it appears that we’re in a more seasonal groove.  Leaves blowing around.  Homes decorated for Halloween.  Tons of candy and orange and black decorations in stores.  It gets dark earlier and earlier.  These can mean only one thing: the end of the world and God’s second coming.  Oh shush!  God likes a good joke, too.  Otherwise, He/She wouldn’t have created me.

Talk of God often prompts talk of perfection and that’s what the Green Bay Packers have so far: a perfect record: 5–0.  Last Sunday, the Pack masticated the St. Louis Rams and this Sunday they have the opportunity to chew up the San Diego Chargers at 3:25 PM at Lambeau Field. May the Green Machine roll on!

In the Irregular Football League, Mr. Hale-bopp’s Half-Astrophysicists have woken up and jumped two spots.  Mr. OrbsCorbs’ team, meanwhile, dropped like a stone:

Just so you know:  “Obregon in custody” http://journaltimes.com/news/local/obregon-in-custody/article_37183523-00a2-5d3e-8242-93fe5393dc00.html  I understand the countryside has been terrorized by this monster for days.  Everything is all better now, until the next major tragedy hits our town, our state, our nation.  Mass shootings are fast becoming common occurrences on school campuses.  It’s not just the schools, either.  Go to the premiere of a Batman movie and some psycho walks into the audience with flaming orange hair, firing a gun.  No place is “safe” anymore.  Maybe your basement, behind sandbags and barbed wire with a machine gun mounted in the middle.  Live there and you’ll probably be safe.  Thing is, it’s rather difficult to conduct everyday business, let alone a job, when a person is stuck behind a basement machine gun nest.

I’m all for concealed carry as long as there is enough training.  The criminals are armed and they’re out there.  Again, a citizen should know all he/she can about their weapon, especially its proper use and maintenance.  Also, spend some time on the shooting range improving your skills.  Learn what you should do about responding to an armed criminal.  And, again, practice your skills.  Unfortunately, the world has gone crazy, and we must learn new methods of survival.

That’s easier said than done when you’re older.  It’s difficult to change habits that we’ve used since childhood.  It’s difficult to change anything at all.  Our brains are no longer the young sponges that they once were, looking to soak up knowledge, or, in Mr. OrbsCorbs’ case, alcohol.  (Is that below the belt?  I’m not sure.)  Our brains are much less pliable than a child’s.

Personally, I avoid any place that’s crowded.  That used to be a psychological quirk, but now it’s a safety requirement.  Mass murderers want a “mass” of people.  So I stay away from crowds and rely on my pocket cannon for self-protection.

If we could show each other a little more respect and love, we might find solutions to our problems.  Put more oomph into your love and less into your anger.  Writing this blog is an act of love.  I love the Irregulars, my other readers, and just about everybody else.  I write and post the blog in the hope that it might negate some small piece of negativity somewhere in the world.  What the world needs now is good karma.  Do your share.

Thank you, my dears, for reading my blog today.  Thank you for taking the time to take a look.  I appreciate all of my readers, even the illiterate ones.

Where has all the love gone? Ask: MadameZoltar@jtirregulars.com

Enjoy the fall weather, my friends.  “Good sleeping weather” is what we always called it.  Be careful around school buses and idiot drivers.  Give both a wide berth.  I love you, Irregulars!

"Vino2Go - the 'wine sippy cup.'"

What do you think?  Yay or nay?

I wonder if  you can get ice between the inner wine glass and the outer "sippy" shell.  They look pretty, like confections.  Now you'll have to coordinate your wine with your sippy glass cover.

Good. I hate bullies.  I'm so glad that this 'cause' came to light.  Bullying can leave psychological/emotional scars that follow a person throughout their life.
