Ousted Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales will be reinstated in 45 days without settlement, judge rules

From JSOnline:
Alison Dirr
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Ousted Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales will be reinstated as the city's top cop in 45 days unless his attorneys and the city can reach a settlement, a judge ruled Wednesday.

The ruling from Milwaukee County Judge Christopher Foley comes weeks after Morales' legal team asked the judge to force the city to reinstate him.

"If you can't get it settled within the 45 days, then my order goes into effect," Foley said at the conclusion of the half-hour hearing. "Put him back in office, make him the chief and away we go."

In legal filings, Morales' attorneys accused the city of dragging its feet during settlement negotiations and failing to abide by Foley's December decision to reverse the city Fire and Police Commission's legally flawed ousting of Morales.

Morales' attorneys wrote that they asked the judge in April to enforce his order due to the city's "months-long refusal to follow this Court's order and reinstate Morales or, alternatively, propose a financial settlement and buy-out the remainder of his contract."

Israel and the Palestinians: a history of conflict in 8 key episodes

As violence between Israelis and Palestinians escalates, the prospect of lasting peace between Israel and the Palestinians seems as remote now as ever. Writing in 2018, 70 years after the founding of the modern state of Israel, Matthew Hughes charted eight key moments in the history of the hostilities

Early Jewish settlement

19th century

Palestine did not formally exist as a country before the First World War, when the British fixed Palestine’s borders after their conquest of what would become Iraq, Palestine, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. For hundreds of years before the British took control, Palestine had been divided into provinces of the Ottoman empire, and had very few Jewish inhabitants.

Indeed, at the start of the 19th century the Jewish population of the territory soon to be defined as Palestine was small – only about 3%. The majority of the region’s inhabitants were Arabs, mostly Sunni Muslim, who had occupied the region since the seventh-century Arab conquest; there was also a sizeable Christian minority. Together, these formed the population that would be considered – despite the lack of a formally recognised country – as Palestinians.

The Jewish people of Palestine in 1800 were not farmers or settlers but instead lived in towns and worked as merchants or religious teachers. As the 19th century progressed, European Jews – influenced by the rise of nationalism in Europe – began to look to Palestine as the place for a possible Jewish homeland. A wave of Jewish people came to the country in an Aliyah (‘ascent’) starting in the 1880s, making their homes on land bought from Palestinians.

This brought a new type of Jew to Palestine, there to settle the land; these adopted tough new names such as Oz (‘strength’). More settlers followed as Jewish people fled anti-Semitic pogroms in Europe, a situation exacerbated by the rise of rightwing sentiment that presaged Nazi rule of Germany from 1933.

Settlement was core to Zionism – a Jewish nationalist movement – because it demanded land for a Jewish state. Zionists based their national claim to Palestine on ancient Jewish settlement of the area before the Romans expelled Jews from the region in the second century AD following two major Jewish revolts against their rule. Zionism and Jewish settlement were seen as a return to an ancient Jewish Palestine. “A land without a people for a people without a land” ran a pithy Zionist slogan – yet this was not accurate: the land was already occupied by predominantly Muslim communities.

Israeli Embassy Says China is Anti-Semitic for Saying Jews Have Powerful Lobbies

The Jews are now claiming that the Chinese are anti-Semites. The Israeli embassy in China is making this claim outright.

We couldn’t even find what the Jews are referring to on any of the English language Chinese media outlets (CGTN’s Twitter account, their YouTube channel), so the Israeli embassy is complaining about Chinese language statements, which makes this even more extreme.

The recently-bombed Associated Press is highly concerned about these dangerous developments in China, which could lead to the Chinese building fake shower rooms to gas all of the innocent baby-killer Jews:

Israel’s Embassy in China is protesting what it describes as “blatant antisemitism” on a program run by the overseas channel of state broadcaster CCTV discussing the ongoing violence in Gaza and elsewhere.

In a tweet, the embassy said “we have hoped that the times of the ‘Jew’s controlling the world’ conspiracy theories were over, unfortunately antisemitism has shown its ugly face again.”

“We are appalled to see blatant antisemitism expressed in an official Chinese media outlet,” the tweet said.

On the Tuesday CGTN broadcast, host Zheng Junfeng questioned whether U.S. support for Israel was truly based on shared democratic values, saying “some people believe that U.S. pro-Israeli policy is traceable to the influence of wealthy Jews in the U.S. and the Jewish lobby on U.S. foreign policy makers.”

“Jews dominate finance and and internet sectors,” Zheng says, speaking in English. “So do they have the powerful lobbies some say? Possible.”

Zheng then accused the U.S. — China’s top geopolitical rival — of using Israel as a “beachhead” in the Middle East and a as proxy in its campaign to defeat pan-Arabism.

…

There was no immediate comment from CCTV and Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said he was “not aware of the situation.”

“China has repeatedly stated its position on the Palestine-Israel situation,” Zhao told reporters at a daily briefing.

…

Judaism is not one of China’s officially recognized religions and stereotypes about Jews as shrewd businesspeople and market manipulators are common among the Chinese public.

If I were the Jews, I would not want to draw attention to “Chinese Anti-Semitism.”

China, as most people know, is a completely isolated civilization. It has virtually no overlap whatsoever with the West in terms of cultural, political or social norms. So if China is developing hatred for Jews, that definitely starts to imply that the Jews are responsible for people hating them.

This is similar to when the Jews went to a remote Indian village in Guatemala and were accused of trying to undermine society and destroy the Catholic religion. They fled in 2014, claiming “anti-Semitism.”

It is one thing to say that White Christian Civilization has some thousands of years long vendetta against the Jews. But when you start claiming that all of these different isolated groups are in on it, it starts to really sound nutty.

Of course, the Judeo-Christians will believe it, because they believe the world is evil and hates the perfect and holy supreme Jewish race. But anyone else looking at “Chinese Anti-Semitism” has to be scratching their head.

That said, I can guarantee you, you’re going to start hearing a lot more about Chinese Anti-Semitism. We are entering into a battle between the West, which is completely run by Jews, and the East, which is completely run by the native people of the region.

I don’t want to accuse Chinese people of being literally autistic, but autism is the only thing you can really compare their mindset to. They are totally incapable of understanding why, if something is obviously true, you’re not allowed to say it. So they will continue to say that the Western world is dominated by Jews, and when they are accused of “anti-Semitism,” they will just look confused for a minute and brush it off.

This is all going to get very funny.

A good sign....

The negress is seen going totally buckwild, holding the skank, who has bleached blonde hair, up by her hair as she punches her in the face. She then drags her outside the door by her hair, and stomps on her head.

The negress has been identified as Brittany Kennedy, 25, and the skank as Emily Broadwater, 22.

At time of writing, Kennedy has not been arrested because police don’t arrest people anymore. But she has a previous mugshot from back when police arrested people.

That there is a powerful beast.

The incident allegedly started when negress pulled a chair out from under the skank. It has been revealed that the two were acquainted with one another.

At one point in the beating, a black child comes up and tries to grab the skank. At first, I thought this was the child of the negress joining in to help mama beat that white devil (genetically evil). But then I noticed the baby’s skin is much lighter.

Pizza pizza, muffuggen bitch ass white devil!

Video has emerged of a white girl getting beaten pretty good by a big black bitch.

The incident happened at a Little Caesar’s Pizza in Augusta, Georgia.

When the white girl stands up after the beating is finished, she says “my baby!”

So the halfbreed is hers. It was actually protecting its mommy, not joining in the battle.

Apparently, this white bitch was having sex with that black bitch’s man.

She said on Facebook that it ain’t be like it do, but y’all know bitches be lyin’.

Black women generally don’t like the fact that white women is be stellen dey mayne.

I don’t like that fact either, and I agree white women who do that deserve to be beaten and worse. The video is very satisfying.

However, we should also understand: this is part of a larger, emerging trend.

Blacks have been attacking white people every day in America for decades. But it’s really going to start getting a whole lot worse now that they’ve pulled the police.

Murder rates are doubling every year, but up until now, it is still blacks killing blacks. At some point soon, blacks are going to collectively realize that they can kill whites and face the same consequences (no consequences).

The thing that is going to trigger it is videos like this one, where a black sees it and says “shiiet, I could do that!”

One of China’s tallest skyscrapers was evacuated on Tuesday after it began to shake, sending panicked shoppers scampering to safety. The nearly 300-metre (980ft) SEG Plaza in Shenzhen, southern China, inexplicably began to shake at about 1pm, prompting an evacuation of people inside while pedestrians looked on open-mouthed. The building was closed by 2.40pm, according to local media reports

Galápagos Islands tourist attraction Darwin's Arch collapses

Darwin's Arch in the Galápagos Islands, "considered one of the best places on the planet to dive" and observe marine species, has collapsed, the Ministry of Environment for Ecuador has announced.

Why it matters: Although the ministry said the collapse of the 140-feet-high rock formation Monday was due to natural erosion, it casts a spotlight on a region that the United Nations has classified as "one of the world's most vulnerable places to the effects of climate change," per the New York Times.

Of note: The tourist attraction and the nearby Darwin Island are named after the scientist Charles Darwin, whose study of species in the volcanic archipelago helped solidify his theory of evolution.

  • But "warming waters" pose a grave threat to the species that Darwin observed, the NYT notes.

Threat level: The UNESCO World Heritage-listed islands are at the "intersection of three ocean currents and are vulnerable to the El Niño weather system, which causes rapid warming of Pacific Ocean waters," the Times reports.

  • Another Pacific island, Easter Island, southeast of the Galápagos archipelago, known for its moai statues, is already facing the threats of sea-level rise, coastal inundation and erosion, according to a UNESCO report.

All In For The Animals Zoo Fundraiser

From Racine County Eye:

From Tuesday, May 18 to Thursday, May 20, Racine Zoo will be hosting
their All In For The Animals fundraiser. Through the generosity of the RUUD Family Foundation, Educators Credit Union, and McDonald’s of North Racine, each donated dollar up to $5,000 will be matched. This means each donation will have four times the impact to help Racine Zoo continue making a difference in the community.

The animals that make your trip to the Zoo so memorable require vital care each and every day. The Animal Care Department provides essential daily and veterinary care to over 300 animals and 75 different species that call Racine Zoo home. Just like you, their animals need to eat and have dentist visits! Each animal requires unique care and enrichment as well as proactive care to live long, healthy lives. In the past few months, Racine Zoo has welcomed many new faces into the world, such as a zebra foal, tamarin twins, and penguin chicks. However, they’ve also had to deal with their Andean bear, Diamond, being diagnosed with cancer. As a nonprofit, the price tag is steep for the special care the animals require.

Donors play a crucial role to keep the 98-year-old, AZA-accredited zoo running. Through the generous
support of the community, Racine Zoo can continue to provide their beloved animals with the care they
need. Racine Zoo’s mission is to foster an enlightening and affordable wildlife experience that improves the bond between people and nature for years to come.

If you’d like to show your support for the Racine Zoo, you can donate online at racinezoo.org/all-animals-fundraiser or mail a donation check to the Racine Zoo at 200 Goold Street, Racine, WI 53402. All donations are tax-deductible.

Racine Common Council votes to suspend city's mask mandate following updated CDC guidance

From TMJ4:

CITY OF RACINE — The City of Racine Common Council has voted to suspend the city's mask ordinance.

Mayor Corey Mason called on the council to repeal the mask after issuing an executive order that would let the mandate expire on May 14.

"This does not mean the pandemic is over. If you are not vaccinated, COVID-19 is still a very serious threat to your health, and you should continue to wear masks and follow other best practices. The CDC only issued this new guidance because of the large numbers of people getting vaccinated," Mason said in a news release. “The City of Racine has always said we will follow the best public health guidance from the CDC and other experts as we work to mitigate COVID-19 locally.”

According to the Racine Health Department, more than 44% of city residents ages 16 and up have had their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. 37% of Racine residents are fully vaccinated.

"The CDC announcement is meant to encourage those that have not been vaccinated to do so at one of the multiple vaccination sites within communities. In order for this community to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases and its transmission, it is imperative for those not vaccinated to continue to wear a facial mask and get vaccinated," Racine Public Health Administrator Dottie Kay Bowersox said in a news release.

Bowersbox asked Mason for the emergency order to suspend the mask mandate citywide. But local businesses, institutions and private residences can still choose to require masks.

Those sexually abused as children want Wisconsin to let them seek justice. Lobbyists, including the Catholic church, stand in the way.

From JSOnline:
Laura SchulteHaley BeMiller
USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin

Chad Travis recalled that he was 9 years old, strapped into a rig to heal his broken leg, the day he was sexually assaulted by a hospital chaplain in Merrill.

He was essentially immobile when the priest from the hospital's Holy Cross Chapel hung a tag on the door handle signaling that prayers were going on inside the room, then shut the door and abused him.

Travis didn’t tell many people what happened to him as a child in the late 1970s. But decades later in 2019, he testified at the former priest’s hearing alongside other men who were assaulted as children. Thomas Ericksen wasn't charged with sexually abusing him — that crime was reported to have happened in a different county from where prosecutors brought their case — but Travis took the opportunity to share his story during the sentencing hearing.

“I was so young that I remember I had an Incredible Hulk robe and a favorite stuffed animal,” Travis told the judge in Sawyer County. “This person I trusted preyed on the innocence of a boy attached to a hospital bed.”

Ericksen, who by 2019 had been stripped of his status as a priest, was sentenced to 30 years in prison. It was the end of a long journey for not only Travis, but for Steve Weix, who fought for years to get police to arrest Ericksen and prosecutors to file charges.

Legal justice was still possible for Travis and Weix decades after they were assaulted, because of a provision in state law that pauses the statute of limitations on sex crimes if an abuser leaves the state and does not return. But both men have struggled to get answers from the Diocese of Superior, which employed Ericksen long after the first allegations of sexual assault surfaced, and to persuade church officials to take ownership of what happened to them.

Weix likened it to a car crash, where the person responsible simply walks away without consequence.

“Things get better at times, but then you wonder if things will ever change, if anybody will ever be held accountable,” he said. “Are they ever going to take responsibility?”

Even Ericksen might have escaped responsibility if he had stayed in Wisconsin after abusing multiple children. The criminal statute of limitations expires for most victims of child sexual assaults when they turn 45, and they can't sue their abuser or the church after age 35.

Survivors of clergy abuse and their advocates are encouraged by a state Department of Justice investigation that will provide an independent review of allegations dating back decades. But they say justice won’t fully be realized until Wisconsin removes the statute of limitations for civil action in such cases, allowing victims to take their assailants or the organizations that protected them to court at any time.

A bill called the Child Victims Act would change the law and give survivors of childhood sexual abuse that power. But the measure faces an uncertain future in a divided Legislature — complicated further by a years-long effort to kill the legislation from lobbyists that include the Catholic church.

It’s been a struggle for survivors like Laurie Asplund, who was abused by a youth pastor for years in the 1970s. She’s been advocating for the Child Victims Act for 10 years, she said, as both a survivor and a therapist, and she hopes the tide will change and legislators will see the impact it could have for people like her.

“They can help us get started healing as survivors because part of the healing is getting some kind of justice and validation,” she said. “It would help the healing process for us walking wounded.”
