Yeow! It's been raining most of the day here and isn't expected to turn to snow until midnight, so maybe we'll get less, but then there's always lake effect snow. I told mom earlier today that I might not make my usual visit tomorrow because of the weather. However, she is making an apple pie. I might drive through a blizzard for homemade apple pie.

National Weather Service just dropped the blizzard warning to a winter storm warning for Racine, Milwaukee, Kenosha. We are still getting rain and the temperature is as of now is 37 degrees. They are now saying we can expect snow to take over around midnight. There will still be strong winds tomorrow and a deep chill to follow.

Super glad I fought the crowd and did my grocery shopping today. Gosh.... remind me why we still live here???

Need some good webcams around Racine so I can watch the snow. The only ones I can find are the emissions testing station and the I-94 ones.

I'm sure we are negligently behind in the webcam viewing department. I can be your eyes...

We missed the tragedy that the rest of the state has seen.(up to a foot of snow?) We have, maybe 2" max at the moment. The winds are howling, though. Temp right now is 30 degrees and dropping... so it is really starting to stick.

Being along the lake, we are getting lake effect "banding" happening right now. Vissiblility is low. Might get another inch, or who knows how much more, before the real temp drop. They are saying high of 5 degrees tomorrow. I already feel my bippy freezing off!

22 degrees now. I was out earlier. I had to get that apple pie that mom made. It's worth it. The wind is the big problem. It's blowing like crazy. I stayed on main roads, which were not real good, but I figure DPW is holding back until tonight to clean up before the deep freeze. I saw plows out, but not an army. The usual idiots in cars and trucks were doing the usual idiot things, so please be very careful if you have to go out. I don't intend to move for the rest of the day or night.

My favorite idiots are the ones who don't bother to scrape off all their windows or get the snow off the headlights and tail lights.
Yes, and the ones who decide just to scrape off enough of the windshield so they can see ahead. Nothing to the side or back, but straight ahead. Scary.

They're sometimes referred to as "submarine commanders." They can only see out of their little porthole.
