Campus Tour Guides Reminded To Use Official Name For Rape Hall

RACINE, WI—Speaking with a group of campus tour guides today, the University of Wisconsin-Racine’s undergraduate residential life coordinator Richard Matta reportedly asked the assembled students to please refer to the south lawn freshman dormitory by its official name, and not as Rape Hall.

The Onion will have fertile ground to politically exploit for it's off the wall and alternative news. I really don't think anybody including the sickos are attracted to Racine anymore. There are little opportunities left. As for the old folks that remain, may be too old to relocate or trapped one way or another. THINK SPRING

I deleted my comment because I can't deal with this subject matter rationally.

I enjoy the satires that the Onion posts.

I never heard of this before. I guess I was thinking there must have been a bunch of rapes there prior to reading the article.

I use to get the Onion all the time. there are adds in it (or use to be) that you could reply to, to win a pizza party or something. I won some tickets to a concert in Milwaukee once.

However, Mayor John Dickert joked about the maligned moniker and proclaimed that Racine City Hall would gladly adopt the unofficial nickname and that a NOTICE would be posted at Racine City Hall commanding residents to Bend Over and Touch Your Toes when dealing with his Office.

Sticking with the topic and not going political on every blog...

On a very serious note, sexual violence is on the increase with young people, especially noted at colleges and universities. I believe I read (on an official new site) that a poll at several universities, 1 in 4 young women have reported being assaulted.

On another level, I am seeing more and more unwanted physical behavior and potential force in our high school students. The increasing lack of respect for females and overt public sexual advances is evident in the actions and in the vocabulary of male teens.

Rap music objectifies and denigrates women. It's the "music" of hate.

The Onion is satire and is not for everybody -

It is so simple to ignore the comment if you don't like it - but then some Assholes just never seem to get it and want to stir trouble.

Why stir trouble?

I enjoy The Onion. I have no problem with satire. I do get it. Nowhere in the article did it mention politics or the mayor. We understand you have issues with current representatives, Dick. We REALLY get it. It doesn't have to be the center of every topic or commented about in every blog. Run for office if you have all the answers, and then we can find reasons to call you an asshole.
