"The Beatles on 'Ed Sullivan': 50 Years Later"
I was 12 years old and fell in love with the Beatles from that performance. In 1965, I would enter St. Catherine's High School wearing Beatle boots and long hair. Talk about culture shock: the boys there had crew cuts and penny loafers. I was attacked.
Four years later, they were smoking dope and letting their hair grow.

I watched the Ed Sullivan show they night they were on.
Mr. Sullivan introduced them as "The Be-at-els" and no one side a word until the next day, the media hammered him.

I was much younger, had just moved to Racine, and remember that I was at my uncles house watching them on television. At that age and point in my life, everything was new. I do remember my older sisters taking me to the movies to see Help, and that all the young girls were screaming in the theater.
I still have the original 45's that my sisters bought, and played and played.
I (of course) have it set to record.
Last night I watched the DVD Beatles First trip to America. Times were so different back then.
I know some may argue but I still and will always believe they were the greatest rock and roll band ever. No one has come close to their accomplishments in music.
I wasn't even born during this event... The Beatles split up when I was 4.
If the Beatles weren't the greatest band ever, they certainly were the most INFLUENTIAL! You know, I never grew up with the Beatles. It was my peers that introduced to the Fab Four back when I was a teen.
More than 5000 albums later, many of the Beatles albums remain my personal favorites.
And so the second English invasion started.
Ed had a really really BIG show that night !
I forgot this show was on last night until I was going through the t.v. guide on the t.v.. If I would have checked it sooner I would have recorded it. I thought this was an awesome show and I also think the singers did a great job singing the songs. I had a lot of their albums and always liked to listen to their music.
I was talking to my older daughter on the phone last night after the show and I could not believe she remember three out of the four Beatles. The one she forgot was George Harrison and she also remember a lot of their songs. She started to sing The Yellow Submarine on the phone.

I agree. The songs they wrote almost all became classics.
