"Some Bar Owners Locking Their Doors After Robberies"

From Racine County Eye:

By Denise Lockwood in Business · May 18, 2014

"In response to a number of armed robberies in Racine, several bar owners have started to lock their doors at night to control who comes inside.

"Over the past several months, several gas stations, bars, convenience stores and other businesses have been robbed at gunpoint.

"Carrine J. Fenkl, who owns the Cham Tap, 2511 Durand Ave., said she started locking her doors after her bar was robbed in the early morning hours on Thursday."

Here is the best tip of all - simply don't patronize bars. They are always potential sources for trouble and becoming involved with the Police.

Wisconsin has developed a sick and psychotic culture of teaching it's children and young adults to binge drink. Especially around the College Campuses of the University of Wisconsin schools.

It is time for some common sense legislation and ban this misery industry from being within 1/2 mile of Wisconsin's College Campuses!

Back In the early 70s, I lived on JayEyeSee near the corner of DeKoven. Harold's Tap was on the corner, and I would walk over there often, and have a few beers, and talk to Harold, or Martha, and the Old Time customers they had. I was only 21, but enjoyed It. One night while watching "Hunchback of Notre Dame" on the TV, someone walked In the door, and said "This Is a stickup, throw all of your money on the floor". I only had 5 bucks, but threw It on the floor, and layed on top of It. One guy jumped over the bar, and Harold gave him the money out of the Till, while the other guy held a gun on us. They took the money and ran, and It was all over. They finally caught the guy's after they shot a hole In the Cham Tap ceiling. That was Harold's second hold up, and he had enough. He put a buzzer lock on the door, and the only way you could get In was if you showed your face, and he or Martha knew you. It seems every time the economy goes to crap this stuff happens. BTW, This was all shortly after John from John and Joans On 17th and Racine blew A guy right back out the door with one shot.

BTW again, I saw today In the Obit's, that Harold Vague (Junior) died In the last few day's. Him and his mom ran that bar (the cleanest bar In Racine) for many, many years.
