"WISCONSIN RANKED WORST STATE IN AMERICA FOR BLACK CHILDREN."

"Black families pondering a move to the Midwest might want to read this, especially if they have young children. According to a national report, Wisconsin has been ranked the worst state in the country when it comes to racial disparities for children."

I knew it was bad, but I didn't know we were at the bottom. There is desperation among the teens of color. Most don't see a future. Many don't understand reality.

When you ask them about their plans for the future, many talk about college, while they are failing every high school class they have.

There is also a quiet relief when information comes out about an opportunity for a child to move somewhere else with family to "get out of this area." So very sad.

The problem is very deep rooted. It isn't solely white vs. black. You can't just point a finger at the schools, or at individual parents. I've met many wonderful parents who care about their children, but are facing a force unimaginable pulling at their children: apathy, fast illegal money, drugs, crime, gangs, violence, hopelessness.

did you know back in the 60's there were billboards down south telling people to move to Wisconsin because we had the best welfare in the country.
