The deadline for candidates to file for 2026 elections in Wisconsin was 5 p.m. June 1. The Wisconsin Elections Commission on June 9 officially confirmed the candidates who will be on the ballot.
The general election is scheduled for Nov. 3. Some races will require a primary, which will be Aug. 11.
Here's who is running for districts representing Racine and Kenosha counties.

Gov. Tony Evers says Wisconsin is prepared for any FBI election probe

MADISON - Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers says he has not been made aware of any "widespread" Federal Bureau of Investigation effort to probe the 2020 presidential election in this battleground state but has measures in place to respond if one materializes.
Evers made the comments days after the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel first reported FBI agents had questioned a top state election official and have sought interviews with people who helped administer Milwaukee's 2020 election.
It's so far unclear what the goals are of the questions.
A spokeswoman for the FBI has repeatedly declined to answer questions about the probe's scope and purpose. But sources told the Journal Sentinel the FBI's interview with Wisconsin Elections Commission deputy administrator Robert Kehoe focused on how elections work in Wisconsin and debunking conspiracy theories about the 2020 election in the state.
"No, I'm not," Evers told WISN 12 News political reporter Matt Smith when asked if Evers was aware of "widespread FBI activity here in the state."
"I haven't heard it, but we are adequately prepared and I won't tell you what pieces are in place but we're prepared to make sure that our elections happen safely," Evers said about November's elections.
"We have plans to, if they show up, we will be there to make sure that they are asking for what they have access to but also making sure that they're not doing what they shouldn't do," he said.
The Wisconsin probe comes after federal officials in January seized hundreds of boxes of ballots related to the 2020 election in Fulton County, Georgia, and after the FBI issued a grand jury subpoena in March for voting information in Maricopa County, Arizona.
Georgia, Arizona and Wisconsin have all been central to Trump's false claims that he won the 2020 election. Trump has insisted, without evidence, that former President Joe Biden didn’t win in Wisconsin that year.
A recount in two Wisconsin counties that Trump's campaign paid for, court rulings, a state audit and a conservative review have confirmed that Trump lost. Biden defeated Trump in Wisconsin by about 21,000 votes.
Officials in Wisconsin – and especially Milwaukee – have been bracing for an investigation.
If federal officials advance an investigation of the 2020 election in Milwaukee, it's possible that poll books and nearly 180,000 absentee ballots with attached ID numbers could be turned over to investigators. Since state law requires absentee ballots counted at a central counting facility to include poll list numbers, the data could be matched with poll book information to identify voters.
Ballots from the 2020 election typically would have been destroyed by now. But Milwaukee's 2020 ballots still exist, partly because of a lawsuit filed against the city by a New London man who has sued state and local election officials over the 2020 election and related issues.
Sources told the Journal Sentinel earlier this month no ballots have been seized by the FBI.
Agents sought to question one of Milwaukee County's top election officials about the 2020 presidential election at her home last week. Evers said the agents' decision to visit her home was "bizarre."

FBI is investigating Wisconsin's 2020 election, sources confirm

The FBI has started an investigation into Wisconsin’s 2020 election, sources told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The investigation is only in a preliminary phase and is focused on vetting previous complaints – and no ballots have been seized in Wisconsin, the sources said.
Confirmation of the probe came as the Journal Sentinel reported that an FBI agent had interviewed a state election official in recent days. The agent spoke with Wisconsin Elections Commission deputy administrator Robert Kehoe and discussed how elections are handled in Wisconsin.
President Donald Trump has repeatedly falsely claimed that he won the 2020 election. A recount in two Wisconsin counties that Trump's campaign paid for, court rulings, a state audit and a conservative review have confirmed that Trump lost. Biden defeated Trump in Wisconsin by about 21,000 votes.
Kehoe reportedly debunked false claims during his meeting with the FBI agent.
A spokesperson for the FBI declined to comment.
Emilee Miklas, a spokeswoman for the Wisconsin Elections Commission, said, 'We are not aware of an active investigation."

Former state Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman previously led a fruitless review of the 2020 presidential election in Wisconsin, which cost taxpayers more than $2 million and turned up little information that wasn't already known.

"Based on everything already litigated, reviewed, recounted, and decided by the courts, this appears to be nothing more than a political fishing expedition," said Michael Maistelman, a Milwaukee area election attorney. "There is no factual or legal basis to relitigate Wisconsin’s 2020 election."
The FBI is the investigative agency within the U.S. Department of Justice, which is suing Wisconsin officials over their refusal to provide the confidential information of voters that state election officials say is protected by Wisconsin law.
The federal lawsuit is one of nearly two dozen the Trump administration has filed across the country seeking voter lists without personal information redacted.
U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore, a Milwaukee Democrat, sharply criticized the FBI questioning a Wisconsin election official.
"Donald Trump, the loser of the 2020 presidential election, continues to whine and use intimidation tactics against election officials. Trump believes that any election he loses is illegitimate," she said in a statement. "Our elections are safe and fair and will remain that way."

Republican National Committee sues City of Racine over number of GOP poll inspectors

RACINE — The Republican National Committee announced Tuesday that it is suing the City of Racine for allegedly failing to hire the appropriate number of Republican election inspectors for the Aug. 13 primary.
“Racine deliberately excluded Republicans and violated the law,” RNC Chairman Michael Whatley said in the news release. “We are suing to hire the number of Republicans that Wisconsin law requires, stop Democrat interference and uphold election integrity for our country’s most important election.”
Two Republican community members filed the lawsuit in Racine County Circuit Court on Sept. 13 alleging that they were appointed by Common Council to serve as election inspectors but were not scheduled for service during the August primary.
The lawsuit specifically names City Clerk Tara McMenamin as responsible for the breach of Wisconsin statute.
The lawsuit seeks a permanent injunction that would prohibit the city clerk from violating the state election law in question. It also seeks to ensure that the two Republican plaintiffs, as well as the rest of the Republicans approved for work as elections inspectors in 2023, be allowed to serve as such during the Nov. 5 general election.
“The City of Racine is committed to hiring election officials who meet all statutory requirements, irrespective of political affiliation,” McMenamin said in a statement. “In anticipation of potential increases in meritless litigation leading up to the presidential election, we are steadfast in maintaining consistent standards. We will continue to adhere to all state and federal laws and provide comprehensive training to ensure that all election officials are fully qualified and well-prepared to serve City residents on this upcoming Election Day.”
Documents attached to the lawsuit show both major parties submitted lists of nominees to Common Council in accordance with state law. On Dec. 5, 2023, the council approved and appointed the nominees to serve as election inspectors for a two-year term.
The Republican Party of Racine County nominated 55 individuals, and the Democratic Party nominated 40.
According to an open records request filed by the law firm suing the city, eight Republicans, seven Democrats and 90 unaffiliated individuals worked at polling locations across the city on Aug. 13.
The allegations assert that Wisconsin law requires all available election inspection positions be first filled by workers who are affiliated with the two major parties. Guidance from the Wisconsin Elections Commission echoes this.
When there are no more eligible, partisan election inspector nominees, the city can appoint unaffiliated individuals to serve.
“Appointments must be made from the lists submitted by the parties for as long as election inspector positions are available,” reads WEC’s Election Administration Manual. “If party lists have been timely received, positions must be filled from the lists until the names on those lists have been depleted.”
The Wisconsin Elections Commission did not immediately respond to request for comment Tuesday.
The allegations come just a week after the Wisconsin Supreme Court heard oral arguments concerning a case alleging Racine’s use of a mobile voting van in a 2022 primary election violated state law.
The mobile van allowed voters to cast absentee ballots in the two weeks leading up to the election, according to a report from the Associated Press
McMenamin said that the intention behind the mobile van was to make voting accessible to as many voters as possible.

Two Racine residents, Sandy Weidner and Kim Morrison, filed a complaint with the Wisconsin Election Commission on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022 against the Mayor of Racine alleging he illegally took over $900,000 from an outside private group, the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL), to “facilitate in-person and absentee voting.”
The complaint alleges that taking the private money and using it for get out the vote (GOTV) efforts which campaigns normally pay for, using it to pay for clearly illegal drop boxes and using it to target only certain individuals within the city rather than every city resident to vote violates “the election bribery prohibition of Wisconsin Statutes ss 12.11.
CTCL approached just five cities originally in Wisconsin to offer substantial private money to supposedly assist with elections and election administration during a pandemic. The five cities – Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Kenosha and Racine – are thoroughly controlled by Democrats and have historically overwhelmingly supported the Democratic candidate in Presidential elections. While CTCL did eventually hand out money to municipalities in other parts of the state, including some areas considered conservative leaning, the vast majority of the money, $8.8 million out of the $10 million total, CTCL handed out in Wisconsin went to the five cities. CTCL referred to them as the “Wisconsin 5,” in documents provided with the complaint.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A top Republican lawmaker in the presidential battleground state of Wisconsin says there is “zero chance” the GOP-controlled Legislature will take over awarding the state’s 10 presidential elector votes in 2024, even as Democrats worry that is their goal.
Assembly Speaker Robin Vos told The Associated Press in an interview Friday that he also opposes dissolving the bipartisan Wisconsin Elections Commission, which oversees elections, or making wholesale changes to how it operates.
There’s been an intense focus on Wisconsin and its election laws since President Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump by nearly 21,000 votes last year.

Fallout from voter fraud allegations in Racine County drags on

RACINE, Wis. - The fallout from Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling's voter fraud allegations drags on.
There have been calls from Republican leaders for the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) administrator to step down. She said on Monday, Nov. 1, "This is partisan politics at its worst" – and gave further explanation about questions raised in Racine.
"The election statute was in fact not just broken, but shattered by members of the WEC," Schmaling said in a news conference.

Last week, Schmaling called upon Attorney General Josh Kaul to launch a statewide investigation after Schamling released the findings of his year-long election analysis – which resulted in no charges.
"We have not been informed of any similar allegations anywhere else – anything similar to Racine and of course, there have been no charges in Racine County," Kaul said on Monday.

Schmaling said last Thursday, families of eight Ridgewood Care Center residents in Mount Pleasant told investigators their loved ones did not have the capacity to vote but cast ballots anyway.
"A family member’s concern – that does not disqualify an otherwise qualified elector from voting. It’s only through a court proceeding that someone’s right to vote can be removed," said Wisconsin Elections Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe.

On Monday, Wolfe explained her office cannot prosecute crimes.
"If there were instances of coercion or procedures not followed by the care facility or jurisdiction – then those need to be referred to district attorneys," Wolfe said.
Furthermore, the sheriff alleges the Wisconsin Elections Commission broke the law by not sending special voting deputies into nursing homes – a decision the bipartisan WEC made in April 2020 because of the ongoing pandemic. The commission instead gave nursing home staff tips on how to help – and sent absentee ballots.
"If clerks had continued to try to accomplish their visits to facilities that they knew were not going to let them in – what that would have meant is those voters in those care facilities would not have been able to vote," Wolfe said.
In September, the WEC voted to request the governor categorize these "special voting deputies" as "essential workers."

Bombshell Press Conference: Wisconsin Sheriff Shows Massive Voter Fraud in Nursing Homes Helped Steal 2020 Election
Until this morning, only a handful of people were aware that Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling would be unveiling the results of an extensive investigation into Wisconsin voter fraud. The surprise press conference was quickly picked up by Right Side Broadcasting Network and others, and the bombs were dropped left and right.

Today during the press conference the Racine Sheriff’s Office brought forth evidence that the Wisconsin Election’s Commission BROKE THE LAW.
The Wisconsin Election’s Commission took advantage of senior citizens in nursing homes who had their votes stolen. This was illegal behavior against Wisconsin State Law. The Wisconsin Election Commission sent out instructions to nursing homes in all 72 counties on how to break state law with their residents!
There were nearly 200,000 more “indefinitely confined voters” who allegedly voted in 2020 than in 2016. This fact alone should draw massive investigations at both the state and federal level, and perhaps if former Attorney General William Barr wasn’t part of the Deep State that installed Joe Biden, there would have been investigations across the country. Instead, we’ve just been fed an incessant series of lies telling us there was no voter fraud and Joe Biden is the most popular president in American history.
Biden allegedly won Wisconsin by a mere 20,000 votes. In nursing homes along, there are ten-times that many that are questionable at best.
Sheriff Schmaling has submitted the results of his investigation to the Attorney General. The way it’s laid out during the press conference, one would think this is a slam dunk prepared to happen. But it’s 2021 and the conspiracy to install Joe Biden last year is so widespread, there’s no telling whether this will get the attention it desperately deserves.
The fight to reverse the fraudulent results of the 2020 election is ongoing even if the vast majority in “conservative” media have moved on and accepted as successful the attack on the Constitution. We will continue to press forward with the fight and reveal as much information as we can when it comes available. This particular bit of news is huge and needs to be spread far and wide. Kudos to Sheriff Schmaling and his team.
