"Brewers Community Achievers: Beth David"

"The Brewers Community Achievers Program recognizes residents throughout the state of Wisconsin each month during the season for displaying extraordinary efforts in their community.

"The first honoree of 2015, Beth David, was recognized on the field prior to tonight’s Brewers vs. Reds game at Miller Park and also threw out a first pitch:

"As the founder of Racine Uncovered and We Are Racine (WAR) Advocacy Center, Beth is changing lives one person at a time. The WAR Center provides assistance and resources for individuals and families in improving the quality of life in Racine. Beth helps underprivileged kids by providing lunch and activities during the summer and help with homework during the school year. This year, she coordinated PeaceFest for the residents of Racine, to help bridge the gap with Police Officers and Firefighters so everyone can work together for positive change and get our community back. Beth has worked tirelessly and unselfishly to make lives better for the residents in Racine.

"Illinois company refurbishing Jacato Drive apartments"

"Beth David, whose non-for-profit community group We Are Racine is located at 2432 Jacato Drive, has also been impressed by the work going on at the buildings.

"'When I heard they were sold, I thought, "here we go again," David said Friday, noting that she changed her mind as soon as she saw the renovations.

"'Oh my God, it’s phenomenal,' David said. "I see a lot of hope over there –hope where I have never seen hope.'"

Like someone says in the Journal Times comments, neither Beth nor her group will see one penny of any profits.  This is truly a case of a neighborhood rehabbed by the residents themselves.  That's what made it attractive to investors.

"Almost 8 years ago I was involved with a little site called Racine News. Well keeping tabs on the local news sources such as Racine Post and The Journal Times I happen to cross paths with Beth David. She was just starting a new site devoted to crime and local politics called Racine Uncovered. Several months went by and I kept tabs on her budding site, she was using wordpress.com and was without a domain to call her own. I watched as her site grew, I was rather amazed at how many people visited her little blog. At times the site was so busy you would get error messages telling you the site was too busy and to try back latter. This is when I reached out and offered to take Beth and Racine Uncovered under my wing.

"August 24th-Racine’s Peacefest to be held at Quarry Lake Park"

"Due to the overwhelming support from the community, we have moved Racine’s Peacefest to the Quarry Lake Park located at 3800 Northwestern Ave. It will still be on Sunday August 24th from noon-4 p.m. We feel this will be a great location allowing everyone to participate without an admission fee to the festival and will help bring the entire community together for a day of fun, friendship and also raise funds for the RAPD COP Unit."

“'We Are Racine' to begin Peaceful Solutions Education Program"

"We Are Racine has partnered with Peaceful Solution Character Education from Abilene, Texas to begin a first ever program in Racine, Wisconsin. We will start doing this program in conjunction with our summer programs

"W.A.R. and PCSE are devoted to promoting character education as its main tool for positive character development. Teachers and volunteers with We Are Racine will begin teaching The Peaceful Solution Character Education Program (PSCEP) with a variety of courses to area children. We want to reach all ages so the impact of character change can be realized and effected in society.

"It is so important to establish a foundation of moral excellence by teaching right from wrong and positive ways to deal with conflict in our lives. It is a given that every child born will face conflicts and have to make choices on a daily basis. If we can give them the tools they will need to be able to weigh their choices and choose to act in a positive manner, then they will have that foundation to be upright, moral citizens in the societies of tomorrow.

"Conflict Resolution… Self- Control… Honesty… Respect.

"These are all character traits that must be learned. They are the tools that can be used to foster peace.

"Except for hanging a few pictures and doing some computer testing the We Are Racine Advocacy Community Center is up and running. Thank you to all the dedicated volunteers and supporters who have made this possible. We are located at 2432 Jacato #9. We will be doing the summer lunch program for school aged children, employment help, educational classes, health information classes after school drop in hours.
