"Eleven more computers stolen from Racine schools"

From the Journal Times: http://www.journaltimes.com/articles/2008/10/08/local_news/doc48ed0a2f1b009815879427.txt

Wow. Nearly 70 computers stolen recently. Are there chop shops for computers like there are for cars, where they take them apart and sell the parts? Or do most stolen computers end up whole, sitting on someone's desk somewhere?

RUSD has plenty of problems without this adding to them. As Dr. Shaw points out in the article, besides the economic loss, this hurts the students directly.

Any ideas? Think it's an inside job? Who has the gall to loot schools? Has anyone checked eBay lately to see if Dr. Hicks or PBCG are selling computers at a great price?

This is an example of Unified not being proactive and taking care of business by dealing with safety and security until it is too late. It is disgusting that the tax payer's money has been squandered by egotistical lack of concern.

This makes me sick. I cant believe that people could steal from the schools like this. Maybe it's time to start putting up bars over the windows or something.

Just think of the time it would take to disconnect all those machines, then tote them out, load them into a vehicle... No one saw anything?

That is a lot of machines, a lot of work, a lot of time to be investing in this crime. Totally crazy. How could they not get caught?

Well............ Maybe the only way they can get new up to date computers and finally get rid of the old 386s, is to have em stolen......
