My kids do facebook, alot of people do facebook,
am I missing something or what??

Facebook is what you make of it. I have been on it for a couple of years. Found lots of old friends (even a couple of students from my first year of teaching, the class of '91). It is definitely a lot nicer than myspace.
You can set up interest groups as well with their own bulletin board/communications. I have thought about suggesting a JTI group (you can make them private so only people who are approved can join). You can also set up "Events". You can invite people to the event, post directions, pictures, etc. Again, you can make them private (by invitation only) or public (anyone can come).
And my friends and I are always updating our status and commenting back and forth on it!
I know nothing about Facebook. But it struck me as an enterprising posiblity for us here. In keeping with our Irregular tradition, we could open a like site and call it Buttbook.
Facebook...Is that like talk dirty to me?
I have a MySpace account, but I only check it to be sneaky and see what my daughter and adult stepdaughter are up to... otherwise, I have no clue what the draw is. It's a clunky interface, hard to navigate, and slow as all get out.
I don't know if anyone I know is on Facebook, have a hard enough time keeping in touch with the people I'm related to, and am kindof antisocial in general;-) Mebbe Facebook wouldn't be that great for me, either, lol!
I'm on facebook and in the beginning I was on it all the time looking for old classmates and friends and got some invites for tests and quizzes and little other dumb things. I have to say after about a month of it I really dont know why people are so attached to it.. I do go there and play games, they have a lot of games to choose from so I like to do those.. you can PM people on there which is kinda nice especially after you have found your old friends.. It takes awhile to understand.
I set up a Myspace to see what the big "to do" was all about. To high school kids, this site is like cocaine. They can't get enough.
I admit that I liked the music aspect of it. However, it didn't take long for me to receive a lot of extremely creepy "friends" requests.
The whole thing seems too much like a young dating service and a perverts dream at that to me. I quickly made my account private and haven't been back much.
Like others, I created a MySpace account when it was all the rage, but I haven't been back in a long time. Never did Facebook. Mainly, I've been too busy with other websites. The kids, though, are so digitally connected that they can't get enough.
I also created a MySpace account. I loved the killer music set up I had. It wasn't too long before I had the creepy friend requests and spam in my mailbox. I rarely go there anymore. Besides,blogging is more fun.
