Sugaring off time

While it seems a bit early to do so, the next series of days are going to be perfect for sap sucking. Better get out your drills, bungs, and buckets as we will have warm days and low nights. The sweetest sap comes during these times. If you watched last year and yearned for the sweetness two of us gained with a little down home ingenuity, it's time to get it in gear.

This year I'm going to make it easier on me. I'm going to menards and getting three hose barbs. One will be a 90*, and two will be Ts. There will be three taps on the tree, with plastic hose hooking them together and then hose running from the tree to my front porch via the old dog run. No more struggling in the slop with the wheelchair, it's all going to0 be production like Down Town. I'm already eyeing the pancake mixes and teas for my syrup.

I am so jealous. My beautiful maple tree bit the dust two years ago. The city made a stink about branches being too low about 5 years ago. I had a professional come in to trim and remove cross branches. The poor thing never was the same. Do you think my neighbor would notice a big blue bag hanging off their tree?? :)

I guess I'll just splurge and pick up a bottle of the real stuff somewhere. Thanks for the updates huck. Keep 'em coming. Its fun to hear of your adventures and progress.

I don't know anyone who does that except Huck.

Huck got Cyndi into it too :)

Hmm, maybe we'll have to get a breakfast get-together going, I can make pancakes or waffles and Huck can bring the syrup! :)

do we have any morning people amoungst us?

I'm only forced to be a morning person now a days.. so I'd be there but dont expect any worthwhile conversation as physically I may be present but the brain is pretty much somewhere else..
