Hey,
I was looking around on the internet looking for something off of youtube and I came across some videos about Racine. After tearing up again looking at the flooding pictures and even saw my parents house in one of the videos I moved on to something a little more uplifting.. I found this video of Racine, Wi from 1989 was kind of fun to look at again.

That was cool, but misleading at the end. The sun does not set over Lake Michigan, on our side, at least.
As, the good old days when the Army Surplus store was still in business and downtown was for commerce and the people of Racine, not the exclusive toy of elitists. No wax factory lording over everything and it was the hub of mass transportation. If only they'd left the Venetian alone.

Sun setting in the east! Come on! On a first quick view we are seeing, perhaps, a sunrise, followed by a sun setting over the fair city of Racine.
But this was taken _after_ the Festival Hall was built, and the Hotel was removed, and the marina built. Not all that different than 20 years later in 2008.
Does anyone have video or stills of the water front in 1975? In one blow, the Marina changed the face of Racine.
The sunset was taken from someone in a boat or on one of the piers. You can see St. Pats church in the background.

Hi, folks!
This is actually a video that I shot for members of our family that had moved out-of-state. (they wanted to see all the big 'changes' to downtown and the lakefront)
The opening view was shot from the top of The Racine Motor Inn's elevator shaft. Oh, and the sunset is quite real. I shot that at the end of the day from the end of the Christopher Columbus Causeway, looking west towards the city.
