That Time of the Year with Fall Colors Pt3!

The pictures I am going to show you I had taken last week. I am really sorry it has taken me so long to get them posted on here. I have been really busy with so many things happening. I took the pictures at Pritchard Park, Shoop Park and the at Lighthouse.

I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as I have been enjoying taking the pictures. I just love going out and looking at all the colors.

I couldn't believe it when I went past Pritchard Park yesterday all the trees you seen in my pictures the leaves are coming down already. Half of the trees there at bare. I really blew me away when I seen that yesterday.

I am going to try to get some pictures of the trees with some of the leaves on them still. We are going up north this weekend so I am going to try to get some pictures up there. So next week will be my last Fall Colors Post.

Bollywood, Tractors, and Jingle Bells, Oh My!

I don't know if this or kung fu movies are better.

Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my autumn chestnuts!  How are you?  The days grow colder and shorter.  The wind is brisk.  Everywhere you go are signs of the season: Halloween items in every store.  Halloween is very big business these days.  With the commercial push for the “holiday season,” I expect we’ll soon be celebrating HallowThanksChristmasNewYear.  We’ll just buy, buy, and buy from September through December.  It’s good for the economy, even if it bankrupts us.

Our august and illustrious Green Bay Packers fell to the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday.  Oh woe is us. Gloom, despair, and agony overwhelm us.  That is, until this Sunday, October 14, when the Pack meets the Houston Texans at 7:20 p.m., in Houston.  Then, may the Packers’ fury destroy the Texans. Annihilate, debilitate, and obliterate the Texans, please, Packers.  Cut them off at the knees and stomp them beneath your cleats, then chew them up for dog food.  Oh dear, I do get worked up about our Packers.

I’ve also been worked up about a neighbor problem.  Often, those are the worst kind.  One of my neighbors has put up a light to illuminate his garage and driveway and side door at night.  It’s one of those intense, orangey-colored lights that buzz.  The problem is that his light also illuminates the side of my house where the bedrooms are.  If I didn’t mind peeping toms, I could keep the blinds up and let his light illuminate my bedroom at night.  I’ve asked him to try to point the light a little more away from my house, or use a lower wattage light, but to no avail.  I even went out there at night wearing a swimsuit and sunglasses, with tanning lotion in my hand.  I laid on the picnic table for awhile, but, again, he didn’t respond. SeƱor Zanza is exasperated.  Junior thinks it’s “cool.”  I am having trouble sleeping in the light that seeps in around my blinds and curtains.  I think I’ll give the “gentleman” one more chance.  If he doesn’t respond then, I’ll be forced to place the Curse of Zoltar™ upon him.  Boo! Ha-ha!

I was going to proceed here with some civic-minded musings about the City of Racine’s government, but then I thought, “Ugh! I don’t want to step into that pile of poop again.”  Instead, below is a video entitled “Vivaldi, Autumn:”

That is simply beautiful.

All of my readers are beautiful.  I love your visits to my blog and I love you.  Thank you for stopping by today.  Thank you for your comments.

Have you heard?  Project Zoltar has started: http://projectzoltar.com/

Be good my boys and girls and everything in-between.  Remember, Santa Claus is watching you, so don’t mess up, or you’ll have a lousy Christmas. Maybe even Thanksgiving and Halloween, too.  Happy, happy, merry, happy HallowThanksChristmasNewYear. Kreatophagia!

"It’s official…We Are Racine has a website"

From RacineUncovered.org:

"It’s official… We Are Racine has a website.

WE ARE RACINE

"We felt as a group it would be beneficial to have a website designed specifically for volunteers, the community, events and other organizations (COP Houses). This website is just up and running, it’s a combination of a website and social media site. Volunteers are able to have email accounts, messaging, forums and more! We felt it was an easier way to communicate with everyone in the community about what’s going on in Racine and how we are making changes and how YOU can get involved. We Are Racine is also looking into becoming an official non-profit to help extend more help into the community and to the residents

"We are still adding to the site and will be partnering with more organizations now and in the future and adding their information. We will be installing calendars and other helpful items."

We Are Racine is now linked in our sidebar under Local & Area Blogs. God bless Beth and all the other volunteers.

That Time of the Year with Fall Colors!

Yes it is that time of the year again when the weather starts to get colder and the trees start to change. The colors of the tree are so beautiful this time of the year. This picture above is taken at the University of Whitewater College this past weekend when we went to pick my daughter up for the weekend. I noticed when we left here and on the way out to the college the colors on the trees are a lot lighter toward the college.

This picture was taken at the University of Whitewater College on are way home. I could not pass this one up because of how bright the colors are on the tree. My daughter thinks I am crazy for stopping and taking these pictures.

This picture of the Pine Tree was taken at Smolenski Park here in Racine Wi.. I couldn't believe that the Pine Tree was starting to turn yellow already. I just thought I would share this one with you.

I seen this tree at Smolenski Park here in Racine Wi. also. I just loved the way you see the red and green together. When I seen this I had to take the picture. I think this is just so beautiful the way it is changing it's colors.

This picture was taken by the Racine Airport. I seen this on the way home from work and then I went home and got the camera and came back to get the picture. This is so pretty with all the different colors. I was on my way to pick Drew up from work too.

This picture I stopped on the side of 4mile rd in Racine Wi to take this picture on my way to pick Drew up from work. I seen how the colors are changing and I wanted the picture.

I hope everyone enjoys these pictures because this is only the beginning for the fall colors and only the beginning for my to post the fall pictures as I get them!

Health and Safety course

Gladys failed the Health and Safety course at the Senior Center today.

One of the questions was:
"In the event of a fire, what steps would you take?"

"F***ing' big ones" was apparently the wrong answer.

Smudge Pots

Do you know what a “smudge pot is?”

Take a large juice can and punch some holes in around the “side” bottom of the can; the old style “Church Key” works great. Then make a handle out of a coat hanger.

Now take a bunch of leaves out of the gutter and fill the can; light the leaves of fire through one of the holes in the side and begin to swing the can around and around,

The leaves will start to burn and smoke heavily, stop and fill the can again. Just keep up these steps until the whole street is filled with smoke.

But be advised, someone will call the cops on you!  But it’s well worth it as long as you can run and hide.

Poem

The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop, at late or early hour. Now is the only time you own. Live, love, toil with a will. Place no faith in time. For the clock may soon be still.

Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my October octopi!  How are you?  Fall continues to fall.  I was leaving a store last week and the trees in front were dropping leaves like rain in the brisk wind.  There is already much color in Racine.  Many trees and shrubs are turning.  It is the time of year when you can see why certain euonymus shrubs are called burning bushes.  The bright scarlet is gorgeous.  So much is going on in the landscape, but so slowly that it is difficult to appreciate it all.  Fall is the time of year for walks.  Get out and enjoy.

Our splendiferous and awesome Green Bay Packers squeaked by the New Orleans Saints last Sunday.  Hip-hip-hooray!  Now the Packers and my Irregular Football League team, the Screaming Psychics, share the same record: 2 – 2.  What glorious company to be in.  Next up are the Indianapolis Colts, this Sunday, October 7, at noon, in Indianapolis.  Clobber the Colts, please, Packers.  Visit mayhem and violence upon them.  Erase the Colts from the face of the Earth.  Die, Colts, die!  Oh my.

I saw Mr. OrbsCorbs’ blog about Mr. Mayor Dickert sending out letters to nonprofit organizations asking them to pay their “fair share” of property taxes.  I think all of those organizations should send Mr. Mayor Dickert a letter asking him to pay his “fair share” of the legal bills he has inflicted upon us.  I do not see one sign of any cutbacks at City Hall.  On the contrary, they live quite opulently in their castle.  Didn’t Mr. Mayor Dickert once say he was going to take a cut in pay?  Did he ever?  Ugh, it puts a bad taste in my mouth to ponder these things.

I can hardly wait to see our newest roundabout in action.  It’s right in front of City Hall and a block away from the Police and Fire Departments, so accidents will receive a very rapid response.

Below is a fall color map for Wisconsin as of yesterday:

Most of the state is peaking right now, but we’re just about to.  When we’re peaking, you’ll see all sorts of colors.  Oh dear.

Q; What did one fortuneteller say to the other fortuneteller when they met on the street?
A: “You are fine. How am I?”

Thank you so much for stopping by to read my blog. It warms the cockles of my heart when visitors drop in.  I love my readers, Irregular and otherwise.

Have a question? Here’s the answer: madamezoltar@jtirregulars.com.

Enjoy the coming week, my dears.  I hope that each and every one of you has a wonderful one.  Remember, turn that frown upside down by standing on your head.   Xenomancy!

Racine Nonprofits to Pay Property Taxes?

Bunped: the Journal Times finally woke up:  http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/city-seeks-help-letter-asks-tax-exempt-groups-to-help/article_65709488-0c86-11e2-97f8-001a4bcf887a.html

Originally published on  Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 8:43 PM :

I met a friend earlier today who is active in a local nonprofit organization.  He told me that the organization, and all Racine nonprofits, received a letter from Dickert asking them to pay city property taxes.  He said the letter noted the services that the city provides.

Wow.  We can afford half million dollar bathrooms at City Hall, but Dickert's legal problems must be costing us a mint.  Before he is done, all of Racine will be nonprofitable.

Please be careful, my dears, of what you post online.

By the way, I would never use fraudulent means to give clients readings. I don't have minions working online to feed me information about a person. I could never afford minions. More importantly, I don't have to. My crystal ball and my psychic powers are all that I need to do my job. I can even work without the ball, it just takes more concentration.

NY Post

Dear Madame Zoltar

Hello, my fabulous friends!  How are you?  More trees are turning colors every day.  More shed their leaves.  It’s beginning to look like fall.  The temperatures feel like it, too.  I must say that whoever did the plantings and maintenance in downtown Racine this year did a grand job.  The flowers, grasses and greenery were beautiful all summer long.  That must have taken a lot of watering during our drought.  Thank you to all who put their efforts into it.

The Green Bay Packers vs. Seattle Seahawks game last night made national news.  Our majestic and admirable Packers were the victims of the substitute referees’ incompetence.  I’m quite sure that we will have to live with the loss.  Dear Pack, don’t let this get you down.  Fight! Fight! Fight! Use the defeat to fire your ire against the New Orleans Saints this Sunday, Sept. 30, at 3:25 p.m., in Lambeau Field.  If the substitute officials continue to blow calls, don’t be surprised if some “outside interference” affects the game.  Something has to be done to counteract the NFL’s negativity.  I’m positively sure of that.

Here’s a related story in the Mt. Pleasant Patch: "Packers Fans Call for National Boycott of NFL," http://mountpleasant.patch.com/articles/packers-fans-call-for-national-boycott-of-nfl

Until now, I have kept my mouth shut publicly concerning “Mr. Racine,” Mark Eickhorst, the part time supervisor who drove one of the jail inmates on a work detail to the inmate’s girlfriend’s home, where the inmate allegedly beat her.  http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/mr-racine-admits-mistake-after-inmate-escape/article_3e2a799e-0316-11e2-bb69-0019bb2963f4.html  He’s called “Mr. Racine” because he has a weekend radio show on WRJN.  Until now, I haven’t said anything about the sheer stupidity and irresponsibility of Mr. Eickhorst’s actions.  “Mr. Racine?”  Harrumph!  I guess even the criminal element deserves a representative.  I’m quite sure that Mr. Eickhorst’s connections to Mr. Mayor Dickert prevented him from being charged with a crime.  It really upsets me to see the law perverted like that.  It upsets me even more than the blown call in Monday’s Packer game.  I know that our city can do so much better.  We the people, the real Mr. and Mrs. Racine, don’t deserve the corruption that we receive from our local “representatives.”

I will not end my blog on a negative note.  Instead, I’ll tell you a gypsy joke.

Q: Why do gypsy men walk funny?
A: Because they have crystal balls.

Oh dear, shame on me.  I hope you enjoyed the joke and the blog today.  Thank you for stopping by and spending a little time with me.  I love new visitors and readers.

Q: Where do gypsies go to get their fortunes told?

Enjoy the outdoors while we still can.  Be watchful for school buses and children on the road.  Dusk comes earlier and earlier each day.  Sorry, I can’t make it to the impromptu get-together tomorrow.  Have a very good time, my dears. Rugose!

Texting While Driving

UPDATED

Wisconsin's first homicide by texting while driving prosecution ended Friday with a Sun Prairie woman receiving a year in prison for the death of a UW-Madison student on East Johnson Street in 2010.

"I know my apology is hard to accept, but it comes from the deepest part of my heart," she said.
this is the woman who orginally told police it was his fault because he was on the road when she it hit him

In addition to prison and extended supervision, Ehlke ordered Kanoff to spend 100 hours speaking to young people learning to drive and other groups about the dangers of texting while driving. He also ordered that she not drive with a phone that's turned on in the driver's area of a car. She will also have to take a driving safety course to get her license back after a mandatory yearlong revocation.

Wisconsin has passed a law it is illegal to “text” while driving.

When a death is caused because of texting, do you feel the individual doing the texting should receive prison time and how much?
