JACKSON, Miss. – A nonprofit group caught up in an embezzlement scheme in Mississippi used federal welfare money to pay former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre $1.1 million for multiple speaking engagements, but Favre did not show up for the events, the state auditor said Monday.
Details about payments to Favre are included in an audit of the Mississippi Department of Human Services. State Auditor Shad White said his employees identified $94 million in questionable spending by the agency, including payments for sports activities with no clear connection to helping needy people in one of the poorest states of the U.S.
The audit was released months after a former Human Services director and five other people were indicted on state charges of embezzling about $4 million. They have pleaded not guilty and are awaiting trial in what White has called one of Mississippi’s largest public corruption cases in decades.
“If there was a way to misspend money, it seems DHS leadership or their grantees thought of it and tried it,” White said Monday.
White said the Human Services audit “shows the most egregious misspending my staff have seen in their careers.”

Two McDonald’s restaurants close after employees test positive for COVID-19

by Denise Lockwood May 3, 2020
Two McDonald’s restaurants — one in Racine and another in Caledonia — were closed Sunday after an employee at each store tested positive for COVID-19 (novel coronavirus).
Located at 2100 Lathrop Ave. in Racine and 5125 Douglas Avenue in Caledonia, Dorothy Metz owns the Caledonia restaurant, and Jeff Stern owns the Racine restaurant. After learning about the two McDonald’s employees who tested positive, the staff closed the restaurants so that they could clean them.
Metz and Stern said they immediately called their respective health departments to notify them of the confirmed cases. The two employees are under medical care. The other employees have been asked to self-quarantine at home for 14 days before coming back to work.
“We have been in contact with our employees and are providing support during this time. Our people are the heart and soul of the McDonald’s family. We are keeping this employee in our thoughts for a fast and full recovery,” according to a statement from Metz and Stern.

Racine County District Attorney Patricia Hanson has yet to

RCC has acquired two videos of the altercation between John Dickert and Christian Reynoso.
The videos show Dickert falling forward to the ground during the altercation, as if he were drunk.
18 year old Christian Reynoso stated the former mayor approached his passenger car window yelling, then moved to the drivers side of Reynoso's car as Dickert continued his rant.
When Reynoso got out of his car, he claims Dickert initiated the altercation by grabbing him by his throat and began choking him. Video evidence indicate a good old fashioned ass kicking was delivered to Dickert shortly afterwards.
Mt. Pleasant police arrived on the scene and the
altercation promptly ended.
Both were treated by paramedics and
released at the scene.
According to the Racine Journal Times, Former city of Racine mayor John Dickert is represented by Attorney Patrick Cafferty, who stated that he is exchanging information with the district attorney's office.
Christian Reynoso has made requests for discovery from both the City of Mt. Pleasant and the district attorney's office, both have withheld any information and denied to release discovery.
Obstruction of justice notices have been sent to both the city of Mt. Pleasant and the district attorney's office by Mr. Reynoso.
Think about this, Attorney Cafferty is claiming to be exchanging information about the road rage incident with the D.A's office, yet Mr Reynoso has received no information and is actively being denied any discovery.
Does this sound like a cover up ?

City of Racine has paid more than $129k on open records case
From The Journal Times.com:
RACINE — The City of Racine has spent over $129,000 to litigate the open records court case brought by former alderman Sandy Weidner.
The cost was revealed Friday after the city fulfilled an open records request originally filed by The Journal Times in October for an updated total of litigation costs.
The city last reported in January 2019 that a total of $76,669 had been paid to attorney Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee firm of Meissner, Tierney, Fisher and Nichols to handle the suit. Cohen was hired on Dec. 5, 2017.
The update comes after the case was recently sent back to the Racine County Circuit Court after the Wisconsin Court of Appeals ruled that an amended petition Weidner filed in February 2018, previously rejected by Racine County Circuit Court Judge Eugene Gasiorkiewicz, should have been allowed.

RUSD Appeal
PRESS RELEASE
Racine: A formal Appeal with complaint to follow has been filed against the RUSD (Racine Unified School District) referendum that was voted on in the April 7 election. Attorneys Vincent Bobot (414-430-1249) and Michael Maistelman (414-333-9700) representing HOT Government, a local advocacy group for Honest, Open and Transparent Government, three petitioning groups, which include the Racine Taxpayers Association and the Racine Libertarian Party. The appeal highlights several problems with both the initial vote and the recount that was conducted under RUSD supervision and claims that the integrity of the vote on the billion-dollar referendum was completely lost and is not recoverable. Jim Sewell member of the Libertarian party stated “That when the recount started he was under the assumption that it was a truth finding process, but quickly realized it was an adversarial process: the recount was run by someone hired by the school district, and important decisions were made by the Unified Board of Canvass, all employees of the school district who want the referendum to pass. The petitioners firmly believe that regardless of how those complaints are resolved, the will of the voters has become impossible to determine and it would be reckless and irresponsible to move forward on spending a billion dollars under present circumstances. King of the Zombies (1941) [Horror]
King of the Zombies is the campiest "horror" movie that I've ever seen. I like it so much that I bought a DVD of it. The performance by Mantan Moreland is hilarious.

The Root River and North Beach
Yesterday I went out taking pictures of the Root River and North Beach to share with everyone. I just could not believe what I seen going out there. I took the Root River pictures on my way to pick up Drew from work and then we both went to the North Beach. While we were at the North Beach we started to talk to this guy and realized he was taking videos for TMJ4 news station. I thought that was really neat and he was asking Drew about the birds in the water. Here are the pictures.

BILLION DOLLAR RUSD ELECTION IS CHALLENGED
From Racine County Corruption:
Masked RUSD election attendees
HOT Government in association with the Racine Taxpayers Association, Libertarian Party of Racine and a collective of individual donors has hired high profile attorney Vince Bobot to challenge the controversial declared win by RUSD.
From the date of declared victory, HOT Government and the other petitioners had only 5 days to appeal the declared win before the referendum became final.
HOT GOVERNMENT will be releasing a press statement today detailing their efforts to thwart the hotly contested RUSD referendum election results.
George Meyers and Dennis Montey spearheaded the efforts for HOT government in the oversight of the ballot counting process.
George Meyers
Dennis Montey
Hot Government had totaled over 300 hours of volunteer time to monitor the hotly contested election and contest the counts.
HOT Government's press statement later today will indicate their concerns of possible electioneering, ballot switching, rule swapping and numerous other voting irregularities noted by observers of the election.
In our eyes at RCC, any election won by the luck of the draw is not a valid election, nor does it reflect an accurate will of the people.
Folks, the petitioners need your help to continue this process of contesting this BILLION DOLLAR RUSD election to have this election being counted fairly and impartially.
Please consider hitting the DONATE button on the HOT Government and give generously.

Coronavirus Pandemic Likely to Last Two Years, Report Says
The coronavirus pandemic is likely to last as long as two years and won’t be controlled until about two-thirds of the world’s population is immune, a group of experts said in a report.
Because of its ability to spread from people who don’t appear to be ill, the virus may be harder to control than influenza, the cause of most pandemics in recent history, according to the report from the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota. People may actually be at their most infectious before symptoms appear, according to the report.
After locking down billions of people around the world to minimize its spread through countries, governments are now cautiously allowing businesses and public places to reopen. Yet the coronavirus pandemic is likely to continue in waves that could last beyond 2022, the authors said.
“Risk communication messaging from government officials should incorporate the concept that this pandemic will not be over soon,” they said, “and that people need to be prepared for possible periodic resurgences of disease over the next two years.”
Developers are rushing to make vaccines that may be available in small quantities as early as this year. While large amounts of vaccine against the 2009-2010 flu pandemic didn’t become available until after the outbreak peaked in the U.S., one study has estimated that the shots prevented as many as 1.5 million cases and 500 deaths in that country alone, the report said.
The report was written by CIDRAP director Michael Osterholm and medical director Kristen Moore, Tulane University public health historian John Barry, and Marc Lipsitch, an epidemiologist at the Harvard School of Public Health.

RACINE — A structure fire in Downtown Racine on 6th Street on Thursday afternoon caused an estimated $150,000 in damage and displaced at least four tenants.
The fire was next to Butcher & Barrel Gastropub at 300 6th Street. The fire was first reported at 3:13 p.m. Thursday.
A Racine Fire Department release sent at 8 p.m. said the fire started in a second floor bedroom, but the cause was still under investigation.
At least four tenants lived in apartments in the upper levels of the building, according to Racine Fire Department Battalion Chief Willie Hargrove. No injuries were reported.
Firefighters were able to help rescue two cats that were in the building, Hargrove said.
No estimate was immediately available on the extent of the damage.

Yesterday when I was on my way to pick Drew up from work I took a look at the Root River on 4 Mile Rd and it was high. So when Drew got off of work I went and took a look at the Root River on 5 Mile Rd and I took some pictures of how high it was.
This morning when I was taking Drew to work it was just starting to get some light outside and I seen the Root River on 4 Mile Rd again and it was even higher from yesterday. So when Drew gets off of work today I am going around and getting some pictures to share with you tomorrow. The beach is even flooded.

While you are going about your day to day, the few who care enough about their and your future have taken action action to reign in the rampant spending beyond the budget of RUSD, one of the worst districts and school systems in the entire state of Wisconsin. And those people have voted with their pocketbooks against RUSD.
Instead of just teaching our children, RUSD looks for new ways to overreach and spend money families desperately need themselves. Each and every spending boondoggle RUSD has engaged in the name of education has yielded ZERO results. It is time to just say NO to RUSD, which is more than ample reason to challenge this sham of a referendum.
Good on you HOT Government and the Tax Payers Association!!!
