Racine County child sex assault, man charged
RACINE COUNTY, Wis. - A 43-year-old man from Wind Lake is charged with repeated sexual assault of a child, among other charges.
Prosecutors accuse Carlos Rosas-Diaz of assaulting a girl in the town of Norway on multiple occasions between January 2017 and December 2021.
According to a criminal complaint, the victim – who is now 12 years old – told investigators that Rosas-Diaz had touched her inappropriately multiple times, most recently on Dec. 2. The victim also said Rosas-Diaz made her touch him inappropriately on multiple occasions.
The victim told investigators, the complaint states, that she tried to tell Rosas-Diaz to stop, but he told her he would "break something" if she refused. She also said Rosas-Diaz would ask her to look out the window "in case anyone was coming."
The complaint states the victim reported feeling "scared" and "disgusted" during each instance of assault.
Upon arrest, investigators say the defendant identified himself as Juan Rosas-Diaz. An FBI database fingerprint comparison revealed Rosas-Diaz was previously booked as Leon Dias-Flores and was convicted of crimes in Colorado. He had a current extraditable warrant for burglary in Colorado. Investigators reported that Rosas-Diaz's true name remains under investigation.
Rosas-Diaz is charged with four total counts related to the assaults. Cash bond was set at $50,000 after he made an initial court appearance on Dec. 7. He is due back in court on Dec. 16 for a preliminary hearing.

Racine County: Fiery crash injures 2
RACINE COUNTY, Wis. - The Racine County deputies responded to a single-car crash on I-41 near the town of Raymond shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival, they found the vehicle completely engulfed in flames.
The 30-year-old male operator from Milwaukee stated that he swerved to avoid being hit by another vehicle and struck the wall. The vehicle then lost control and crossed all 4 lanes of the interstate and struck the median wall where it came to rest and started on fire.
The male operator and his 37-year-old passenger from Sun Prairie both sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, as there were no signs of impairment with the operator. The interstate had a partial shut down of 3 lanes for approximately one and a half hours.

CNN Fires Chris Cuomo Amid Inquiry Into His Efforts to Aid His Brother
The network said it had “terminated him, effective immediately,” a move that came days after a lawyer for a former colleague accused the host of sexual misconduct.

and CNN Producers allegedly raped children as young as 9.
A senior producer at CNN has been arrested and charged with enticing minors as young as 9-years-old to engage in unlawful sexual activity.
Between April and July of 2020, John Griffin - who worked on the CNN show New Day, allegedly used online messaging applications to communicate with the purported parents of minor daughters, according to a Vermont grand jury indictment.
When S. Curtis “Curt” Johnson was first charged in March 2011, he faced a possible 40-year prison term for felony charges alleging he repeatedly sexually assaulted a child, his 12-year-old stepdaughter. By the time the court case ended over three years later, he had pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree sexual assault and disorderly conduct. At most, he would spend a year in jail.
But then, as one of his lawyer’s firms boasts on its website, he earned “dramatically reduced charges and sentencing” of four months in prison (he served just three) and a $6,000 fine. He never even had to register as a sex offender.
Brian Williams Quits TV: America In 2021 Is "Unrecognizable"
Posted By Tim Hains
"The reality is though, I will wake up tomorrow in the America of the year 2021, a nation unrecognizable to those who came before us and fought to protect it, which is what you must do now," Williams said. "They’ve decided to burn it all down with us inside. That should scare you to no end as much as it scares an aging volunteer fireman."
MAYFIELD, Ky. (AP) — A monstrous tornado, carving a track that could rival the longest on record, ripped across the middle of the U.S. in a stormfront that killed dozens and tore apart a candle factory, crushed a nursing home, derailed a train and smashed an Amazon warehouse.
“I pray that there will be another rescue. I pray that there will be another one or two,” Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said, as crews sifted through the wreckage of the candle factory in Mayfield, where 110 people were working overnight Friday when the storm hit. Forty of them were rescued.
“We had to, at times, crawl over casualties to get to live victims,” said Jeremy Creason, the city’s fire chief and EMS director.

Racine undercover police officer impersonator gets prison time
![]() |
| Charles Kirkpatrick |
RACINE, Wis. - A Racine man, charged with multiple counts related to impersonality an undercover officer, was sentenced to two years in prison on Dec. 6.
Charles Kirkpatrick, 40, pleaded guilty to impersonating an officer, taking and driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent and misdemeanor bail jumping. Additional charges were dismissed but read in at his sentencing hearing.
Racine police were dispatched to a high school for a reported stolen vehicle. When they arrived, officers spoke with a retired Racine officer who reported his car – containing his keys and wallet – was taken by an unknown man. Among the items in his wallet was his retired police department badge.
Officers reviewed the school's video surveillance and a still image taken by the former officer. During the investigation that day, a criminal complaint states, Kirkpatrick was detained roughly two miles west of the school in possession of the former officer's police ID.
The officer who spotted Kirkpatrick saw him reaching into a different vehicle before getting in, according to the complaint. The officer also noted there was another man inside. That man, the complaint states, told police that he was sleeping in the back seat of the vehicle when he woke up to Kirkpatrick in the front seat. The man said Kirkpatrick showed him the police badge, said he was an undercover officer and instructed him not to call police.

The former officer's vehicle was later found undamaged near Crab Tree Lane. Kirkpatrick, the complaint states, had disposed of some of the former officer's belongings in a sewer drain.
Later in the investigation, officers learned a woman called police to report that an unknown man approached her daughter and showed a police badge, stating he was an undercover officer.
Kirkpatrick was also sentenced to two additional years in prison for a separate retail theft case.

COVID-19 in Wisconsin: Cases back up, deaths down
The state reported 46 more deaths, including 21 in the past 30 days
![]() |
| The more contagious strain of the virus could soon be the dominant variant in Wisconsin.(WMTV) |
MADISON, Wis. (WBAY) – Coronavirus cases in Wisconsin edged back up Friday as the Department of Health Services issued its third and final COVID-19 report for the week. The DHS reported Thursday it was working through a backlog of records and didn’t release reports Monday or Tuesday after a database upgrade and maintenance to the Wisconsin Electronic Disease Surveillance System last weekend.
CASES
Friday’s report shows 5,664 new COVID-19 virus cases diagnosed in the latest test results. The 7-day average is up to 3,183 cases per day, up from 3,024 yesterday. Dodge County topped 17,000 cases. Menominee County passed 1,000 cases.
The positivity rate is back over 11%, after dropping below that mark yesterday for the first time in a week. The DHS calculates 11.6% of all tests in the last 7 days was positive for COVID-19.
DEATHS
Nine counties in WBAY’s viewing area had almost one-third of the COVID-19 deaths reported to the state Friday: Brown (1), Calumet (2), Door (1), Fond du Lac (3), Forest (1), Marinette (1), Oconto (1), Outagamie (1), Sheboygan (1) and Winnebago (3). County case and death totals are updated later in this article.
The statewide death toll is up 46 from a day ago, but the DHS says fewer than half of those were in the past 30 days. The 21 recent deaths helped nudged the 7-day average down from 23 to 21 per day. A total 9,344 people have died during the pandemic, which is more than 1 out of 100 cases (1.03%).
HOSPITALIZATIONS
Another 212 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized in the past 24-hour period. A total 48,033 people have been hospitalized for COVID-19 treatment since the pandemic began, or 1 in 20 cases.
The Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA) releases daily numbers taking discharges and deaths into account. Friday showed a net increase of 27 patients in hospitals, up to 1,634, the most COVID-19 patients at one time in over a year, since December 4, 2020. There are 436 COVID-19 patients in intensive care units, an increase of 8, the most since November 25, 2020.
The Northeast health care region hospitals have 158 of the patients, up 4 from Thursday, with 33 in ICU, down 2. Combined, the 10 hospitals reported 2 ICU beds immediately available out of 207, no intermediate care beds, and 30 of 462 medical surgical beds.
Fox Valley hospitals have 141 patients, the same as yesterday, with 21 in ICU, which is two more than yesterday. The 13 hospitals report no ICU or intermediate care beds available and 2 of 450 medical surgical beds among them.
VIRUS ACTIVITY
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) says COVID-19 numbers declined in more counties this week but the spread of the virus remains “very high” in most of the state.
The weekly update from the DHS says virus activity is still “critically high” in 19 counties, “very high” in 52, and “high” in 1 county. There are no counties where the spread is moderate or low. A week ago, it was critically high in 26 counties and very high in the remaining 46. Menominee is the one county that saw improvement to have “high” spread of the disease instead of very high. The counties we’re tracking in WBAY’s viewing area:
- Critically High: Brown, Forest, Kewaunee, Outagamie, Winnebago
- Very High: Calumet, Dodge, Door, Florence, Fond du Lac, Green Lake, Langlade, Manitowoc, Marinette, Oconto, Shawano, Sheboygan, Waupaca, Waushara
- High: Menominee
The state says virus activity increased in almost 20 counties over the past two weeks. The rest saw no significant change. No counties saw virus activity shrink over the last two weeks.
VACCINATIONS
Monday marks one year since the first vaccinations in Wisconsin. The state is nearing a total 8 million doses (7,958,447) of COVID-19 vaccines administered. This includes more than 1.25 million booster shots (1,250,722). Thursday, 16- and 17-year-olds became eligible for boosters.
The Department of Health Services says 59.3% of the state’s population received at least one dose of vaccine, including 56.3% of the population that completed their vaccinations.
The DHS website still doesn’t report vaccinations for 5- to 11-year-olds, who became eligible for kid-sized doses of Pfizer vaccine more than 4 weeks ago. With three weeks between shots, some have already completed their vaccination series.

The Wisconsin DHS reports cases from all health departments within a county’s boundaries, including tribal, municipal and county health departments; county websites may not. Also, public health departments update their data at various times, whereas the DHS freezes the numbers it receives by the same time every day to compile the afternoon report.
