"Forbes Magazine tells the world what Racine is really like"

From RacineUncovered.org:

"This story is featured in the latest FORBES 400 issue, newsstand date October 10, 2011.

"Drive into Racine, Wis. from the north and the first thing you notice are the cheap strip malls and dilapidated houses. Between fast-food joints, Cigarette City sells discounted Marlboros. Almost every storefront on State Street is boarded up. Kids on push bikes hustle passersby for coins outside a Walgreens.

"But get farther downtown and everything changes. The name Johnson pops up everywhere—on signposts, street corners and the shiny Johnson Building on Main Street, which houses the Johnson Financial Group, Johnson Bank and sports retailer Johnson Outdoors.

"Curt has rarely made public appearances. Still, rumors of past drug and alcohol abuse ricochet quietly around Racine, although Curt has never been arrested or charged with any drug-related crime.

I haven't read the story yet.  I'll comment after I've done so.

I didn't know about the "open secret" of Curt Johnson's substance abuse. I don't much travel in those circles. Other than that, there was nothing new to me in the article.

Cool that Dustin Block got a mention in a national rag.

I agree with those that think the trial should be moved.

Why move the trial? After the Johnsons finish paying off the stepchild-victim, her bio father and the clinic, there won't BE a trial. But I bet the clinic will get a nice expansion soon.

I've heard the "open secret" being talked about between my Mom and Dad - my Mother would know as she knows most if not all of the more prominent, older, Physicians in this area. They would know from the course of their business and associations... My Mom is almost 80.

Was Kurt friends with Paul Little? They would be in the same age group, and Dr. Little is a prominent Physician in Racine. My Mom is well aware , NOT from me, or the internet, of the "other" secret of Racine - that Paul Little is Max Hardcore. Where did he get his funding from? It mirrors so much of what we have seen here... it certainly gives one pause for concern and begs the question - is there a connection.

It's odd that Paul Little was involved in a huge legal battle with the Federal government - and I never remember reading a word about it locally - I knew of the case, because of the noteriety on the internet, BEFORE I knew he was connected to Racine.

Here is some info to ponder:

"Max Hardcore (born Paul F. Little on August 10, 1956 in Racine, Wisconsin) is a male pornographic actor, producer and director, who rose to prominence in 1992 with the film series Anal Adventures of Max Hardcore.[1] His work has been classified as gonzo pornography and described as "testing the limits of acceptability".[2] His company, Max World Entertainment, was headquartered in Altadena, California.[3

Max Hardcore's films generally consist of sexual acts executed by himself, with women who act like underage girls or their upset mothers,[4]...

In his film Max Extreme 4, an actress, Regan Star, stated during one verbal exchange that she was 12 years old; similarly, in his film Max Extreme Schoolgirls 6, actress Mya Mason stated during one verbal exchange that she was 12 years old.[6]"

Life imitating art? EERIE!

"Where and how does one begin a critical analysis of Max Hardcore, performer and pornographer extraordinaire?

The man's been called many things, from sadistic misogynist to vicious child molester; from American original to industry visionary. Even outspoken pro-porn groups wholly supportive of explicit sexual endeavors regularly (but reluctantly) come forward to denounce Max's homespun pseudo-pedophilia as a singularly abnormal and highly toxic cancer upon their private, economy-proof clubhouse.

People who regard him as little more than a sociopathic, safari-suited child rapist in a cowboy hat aren't being completely fair: from time to time he wears colorful, Italian printed silk shirts and neatly pressed beige slacks. Since 1990, he's produced and directed over 1500 sex scenes"

When it comes to this type of article about Racine I don't pay much attention to them. One has the as a total shit hole and the next it seems as if every resident is an angel just wanting to run out and help you. Wazzzz up with that?

Anon, I agree. This will be disappeared one way or the other. I don't think that's cynical. I think that's being realistic.

The family is very wealthy and has made huge contributions to Racine. We wouldn't be half the city we are without the Johnsons. That much wealth and power has to come into play. We all know it. It's just that some of us become upset when it's pointed out.

CCAP Curt and you will see the paper has given him a free pass before. He had 2 speeding tickets for going like 30 mph over that were reduced, not a word of it in the JT.
