4th dang...Glad to hear you are OK Mary, boy that was really terrible, I watched the weather channel all night on Sat. Everyone have a P & P day, or as Orbs said..."Let's go P" and be careful which direction you aim.

Thanks Jed. I was awakened at 2:25 a.m. Saturday morning to "honey you need to get up, the sirens are going off". But it went west. Scary weekend all around although I have to admit (thankfully) the only thing we got was a nice thunderstorm early Sunday morning.
I bet the City of Woodward will now change their sirens to battery powered, rather than electrical. Just so sad as those people never knew a monster was coming at them.

Mary, Frankly It's inexcuseable not to get advance warning with today's technology. In Iowa Creston didn't get any warning either. Just terrible. It kind of reminds me of taking street lights down to save a few bucks. Not nearly as dangerous, but same kind of mentality (Perhaps) Up here In Central WI. We were LUCKY. We were In Reedsburg for a few hours, and the clouds were big, but soon were replaced with sunshine. The wind was terrible. I don't even want to look at the shingles that remain on my roof. It got up to about 75, and rained a bunch at about 10:00, and that was It. LUCKY. You KNOW I'm glad you two are safe. Does he really call you "Honey" when the sirens go off?

Last year when a tornado when through Adams County, I went up there 2 weeks later to go fishing,

I have never saw so much destruction; two weeks later it looked like nothing was being done about cleaning up and when I stopped in a bar to get something to eat there was a crew of guys in there and they were working 12 hours a day, seven days a weeks and they even admitted it looked like nothing was touched.

It is scary how much damage Mother Nature can do.

Trying to recover from that weekend. Wow! Teacher workshop and big race Saturday night (sunset race), air show, a movie at the Arizona International Film Festival and the Evolution of Comedy tour Sunday.

I need a vacation...oh, wait, I get one starting Wednesday!

Toad - yes he calls me honey. :} Most of the sirens didn't go off in Woodward as they were electrical and the tornado took the power out. There was at least one storm spotter that saw it but you can't alert people if the system was down, well part of it anyway. People said they heard sirens but they were far away. I think a lot of people thought the storms were over. I thought so too until I saw on the tv a line out to the west form. That's the one that got them.
During storm season here, you have to be aware. Keep your bedroom window open so you can hear the sirens (that's how Gary heard it) and keep your tv on. Scary!

SER, The storms like the one that hit Adam's last year occur a lot. It's like a path has been formed for them to run. It went through Necedah, and directly to Adam's. It was a lot worse than anybody ever reported. You have to be somebody, or the entire town has to be leveled for It to be bad. One thing for certain. I'll bet you had NO trouble finding a bar. LOL.

Mary, What the heck Is :} I didn't even know that symbol was on the computer.

OKIE said...

A smile! ::::}}}}} You have to manually do it. Colon, and Parentheses (sp).

Hale - are you going someplace fun?

So Mary...Those aren't parentheses? These are ((())) Am I right? lol

Mary, glad to hear you are okay. I was thinking about you too. They are talking about removing the sirens around here. They are too "expensive" to maintain and they don't work properly half the time. They say that with the technology available today (text messages on phones, weather radios, internet) that it is redundant. I don't agree, being one who rarely uses my cell. I still want the sirens.

Sirens work when cell phones don't.
New technology is cheap when it comes to making noise. Stick with what works.

Toad,

“It was a lot worse than anybody ever reported.”
You got that right, I was totally amazed when I got there how bad the place was beat up.

Bars….always bars open up there…!!!

SER, All of my girlfriends hang out at those bars In Adam's and Friendship. Whole families of them. Don't mess with the one that drives truck. She will kill ya. She Is like the family body guard.

Back to Florida which, based on our recent track record, means BJ must be about to travel so we miss each other again.

Sorry, Beejay. Homonyms throwing me off today.

I just had to buy a new battery for my computer's backup power supply. $40! Anyway, storm season means power outages in the older parts of town, so I'm glad I'm prepared.

It's amazing what you can do with parentheses...

SER, a few years ago a tornado ripped through the forest in Langlade County near Doty. The twister touched down just off of Hwy 55 and just stripped the forest bare before coming to an end on the other side of Hwy 32. Talk about destruction. The only things left standing were a bar, a fire station ans a cell tower. I've got pics that I'm gonna have to dig up...
